Chaos party mix

I won best General 2007/08 in Edmonton, Alberta by taking three different cult units, oblits, rhinos and 2 dps, Lash and Warp Time. Oh, and let's not forget the big bad GGD (who can now run!!!) along with a couple 5-man chosen.

As long as you know and respect each units capabilities versus certain opponents and situations, then your golden. Please search around for how people use and prefer their cult units. Keep in mind how they should be used when using them in a rainbow force.

I used to use a unit of Thousand Sons, Zerks, Plague Marines, and Sonic Noise marines, all with nice effect. The best unit against the enemy would be the most protected, or the best durable unit would be placed in front considering what the opponent consisted of. I found it easiest to determine it that way, especially when heavy support is placed first, no matter what you will know what codex they're from if you have at least 1 heavy support to place down before troops.

I highly suggest steamlining each unit for a purpose, though, and all 4 types work well together no matter what people say, they should not be seperated and singled out from the army as a whole. They all thrive in medium and short range, even thousand sons has a 2 psychic power sorcerer with a force weapon of all things with a great INV save to take a charge from banshees and such.

Good luck!

As much as I hate to say this I think that the chaos codex was modeled slightly after the Eldar. I am not saying this to be belligerent against our pa brothers comparing them to space elves. But if we look at it that is what happened with our codex. We were given a general all around unit, then highly specialized units. We have a great CC unit in the Beserkers, a mid to close range unit in Noise marines, a shooty unit in 1K Sons and a hold the objective unit in the Plague Marines. By combining this we can field a highly functional army that can take on a lot. I believe that the party mix or rainbow army is something a lot of us (myself included) need to consider to field something a little more effective. Since I play for fun and fluff only I don't mind being handed tons of losses for not deviating from a made up self imposed standard. but for tournies I can see this as necessary depending on what you field and how you field it.
