Steel Scorpions Vindicator

So the plan to paint an entire army by the release of the new codex is progressing nicely.

So far we have a Tactical SQD, Terminator SQD, Chaplain and Dread.

With the upcoming release of Black Reach my troops and elites are taken care of so i decided to invest in a little fire power, Namely 3 vindicators.

Here is the first of the trio (all of which will be named with a 'steel' prefix) As with the rest of army, my aim is to have a good tabletop standard in a short time period. The Vindicator was a perfect place to play with the new washes in an effort to create a burnished look to the metal. Painting time was about 3 hours including drying time for inks.

C&C welcome as usual

The're all in old posts

Dreadnought Here

Marines and Termies Here

Chaplain Here

For the armour I used a heavy Dry Brush of Boltgun Metal with a heavy Badab Black wash followed with a chainmail highlight

Tracks are the same but instead of Badab i used Devlin mud

Cheers AB

That is one cool looking tank. Just a couple of questions. What parts did you use for the right arm resting on rim of the hatch? And what technique did you use for the scorched metal on the demolisher cannon's barrel? Once again kudos on the work you've put into this tank, keep up the good work.

Dusty.

Thanks, the arm is the normal arm for the stormbolter with a bikers hand.

The scorching is quite simple, Start with a drybrush about 1/3 of the barrel with Brazen Brass

Then dry brush about 1/3 of that with Tin Bitz

Finish off buy just flicking the tip of the Barrel with chaos black

Hope that helps

Thanks that's a big help.

Wasn't this the Chapter that Ah'Shulah came up with ?

Steel Scorpions IA

It might be polite to give him a link and some credit for the idea perhaps ?

To be fair he (Angels_Blade) did give him (Ah'Shulah) credit in the first thread he made (this is like the 4th or 5th unit). I then pointed out Ah'Shulah's Steel Scorpion IA thread in his Chaplain thread in reference to Cornelius not being a particularly fluffy name for a Steel Scorpion.
