Well, I was going to name the thread "True Scale", but that'd be a bit too faecetious. :D

I recently got a delivery from Forge World, and I got this friendly guy:

Here he is in his constituent parts:

I'm really amazed by the model - it's a fantastic sculpt, and the props have to go to Forgeworld for really making a piece of art. I'm thrilled by his arrogant sneer - he'll really make an excellent Castigator when he's done. :)

I'm told that the model will stand approximately six inches high when it's completed, but here's an example so you know what to expect:

I've tested the fit of a number of the pieces but I had to phone Forgeworld up this morning because they've accidentally sent me two right feet for the model. When that's rectified, I'll be able to start in earnest - until then I'm just going to be concentrating on cleaning up the model and preparing it. I'm hoping to convert it a bit to make it more Castigator-esque, including making a Chapter symbol for his Shoulder pad.

Stay tuned for more! :)

  • 4 months later...

After chatting with Midian a few days ago, I pulled this guy back out of his box and did a bit more with him.

Here's the legs assembled:

His torso:

And to show the sort of reinforcement I'm using:

What I'd like to do is to use some 40k bits in this model - the scale difference would be quite cool. I'll have to think about that. Also, I'd like to put a tactical symbol on one shoulder and the Castigators' Chapter symbol on the other. I'm unsure as to whether thin plasticard or GS would be better.

I personally think GS would be a hell of a lot easier to manipulate, compared to plasticard. (You may want to even look into the brown colored sculpting putty)

Tactical symbol... I'd use plasticard.

And with current exchange rates this model should only run around $165 or so. Now really is a good time to buy from Forgeworld.

XE currency converter gives me $140 USD. I think I will plan on ordering one in the near future before they sell out again. :)
