tortoise
Pictures of my sonic dred from Forgeworld. This goes with my expanding EC army and although the weapon loadout isn't legal anymore I figured I'd try to turn the new chaos codex to my advantage and count the blastmaster as...well, any weapon i like really. Piccies http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/tortoise222000/angle1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/tortoise222000/angle2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/tortoise222000/front.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/tortoise222000/angle3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/tortoise222000/back.jpg It was only after taking the photos I realised I'd forgotten the weathering on the backplate (doh!) In fact i'd like to know if you think it needs some more weathering all over really. Any other comments and critiscisms much appreciated. Cheers. Brother Nihm
The weathering (apart from the spots you missed as is mentioned) is just fine. It's a truly great piece of work. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143615-forge-world-chaos-dreadnought/#findComment-1663968 Share on other sites
james.
That really is fantastic work, you have a very destinctive style. It reminds me somewhat of the way rackham miniatures are painted by the professionals. Truly inspiring stuff mate! diggie
Wow that's really great work. I couldn't help but notice how the backs of his shoulders are lacking definition. But man, what an awesome job nonetheless. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143615-forge-world-chaos-dreadnought/#findComment-1663995 Share on other sites

DiStudios
Simply a amazing paint job, I really like the marble effects subtle yet very distinctive. Exlibrisangel
What colours did you use for the armour? I really liked it! The model and the painting is really nice :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143615-forge-world-chaos-dreadnought/#findComment-1664079 Share on other sites
tortoise
Wow that's really great work. I couldn't help but notice how the backs of his shoulders are lacking definition. But man, what an awesome job nonetheless. Damn! Damn! Damn! (bashes head repeatedly against computer monitor) And calm.... This model was painted in a bit of a rush. Yep, I forgot about the back of the shoulder guards too as well as the weathering on the back. Didn't even notice that after I'd taken the photos. I'll do them tomorrow. The model hasn't been varnished yet anyway. Everyone- cheers for the kind words (and the reassurance on the weathering :) ). It has to be said that this model was really nice to paint. Resin holds so much crisp detail. Exlibrisangel- the armour is base coated in a mix of shadow and space wolf grey, washed with blue ink (or blue wash, it doesn't really matter which) then highlighted by adding more space wolf grey up to pure space wolf grey. then its glazed in magenta ink before the final white highlights are added. The trick is in keeping the blending close since the model depends on a high contrast ratio between the dark blue wash and the white highlights for its 'glowy' kind of vibe. I guess i'll leave the weathering as it is too since you liked it and i don't want to spoil my model. Now i just have about 12 marines to paint the same way, a unit of daemonettes, a predator, a rhino, a chaos lord and a daemon prince and them I'm done. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143615-forge-world-chaos-dreadnought/#findComment-1664095 Share on other sites
R-code
I like how you switched the placement of the colors from top to bottom, it's subtle but looks great. ~Mike~ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143615-forge-world-chaos-dreadnought/#findComment-1664433 Share on other sites
tortoise
Thanks, I'm glad you noticed that. I do it with most of my chaos marines where I swap the trim and plate colours around. I just think it makes the armour more complex and interesting and less 'imperial power armour with trim'. kenshin138
Fantastic model...very very awesome. I can't really find any flaws. However....IMHO the base isn't up to the same standard of quality. FaerChan
I love the marble effect and color scheme^_^ I just have a question though, why didn't the backs of his shoulders receive the effect as the rest of the dark areas did? FishSpit
Dude... amazing paint job, :P new chaos codex to my advantage and count the blastmaster as...well, any weapon i like really Oh, and nice use of the blastmaster as an all purpose weapon, it looks like it could be a tricked out Missle Launcher, Plasma Cannon, or lascannon... but good luck trying to sell it as a close combat weapon. Chaplain Desmodus
Totally amazing. This is what a model like this should look like painted, I'm stunned and a bit envious. :P It is quite similar in style to the awesome models in this army, is that intentional: Keep up the cool work!! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143615-forge-world-chaos-dreadnought/#findComment-1665573 Share on other sites
Marid
I was just about to post "nice base" when I saw the above comment. Never mind that, I like the base. It doesn't detract from the model at all. I would love to play against an army painted like that. Prot
Tortoise! Long time since you've posted. I'm glad to see you back with such a great piece! My favorite part has to be the fade in from purple-pink to pink-white. Great job. It's sad they've taken away so many of the special rules and weapon load outs from us, but that model is too cool to change. Falk
Indeed, great job :) . I like how pink is present in the mix to remind Slaanesh but not too prominent so the model doesn't look actually painted PINK.
