Roultox
Alright, in tourniments things have to be WYSIWYG, if it isnt on the model then it "dissapears" off the army chart. What if someone brings a Chaos Dreadnought, gives it two dreadnought close combat weapons, and doesnt model on the combi-bolter? By RAW he doesnt have a ranged weapon, and thus his fire frenzy turns to a blood rage result instead, giving him 2 chances out of 6 to "fleet" towards the nearest enemy. Its sort of messed up I think. Idea came to me as I was updating the "Flufficus Chaoticus" thread in the undivided portion of chaos block. Anything that can combat this RAW WYSIWYG loophole? Tfcdogbert
Doesn't the Combi-Bolter of the arm count as basic equipment, if you have one you must have the other? So it doesn't matter if he doesnt model it on, like the pistols and chainswords of CSM's? vytzka
Should be like that, if you can't not have it, like a bolt pistol on basic CSM then it's not strictly speaking necessary to model. So he does still have the combi bolter. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143877-wysiwyg-problem/#findComment-1667089 Share on other sites
Roultox
I guess standard WYSIWYG equipment and weapons are different from RAW WYSIWYG upgradable weapons and equipment. Like power weapons that are on a sergeant, and its not modelled on him as a different subject then a Chaos Dread with no Combi-Bolter. vytzka
I guess standard WYSIWYG equipment and weapons are different from RAW WYSIWYG upgradable weapons and equipment. Like power weapons that are on a sergeant, and its not modelled on him as a different subject then a Chaos Dread with no Combi-Bolter. I don't know if I'm right, but it is my understanding that WYSIWYG applies primarily to options and upgrades, not to standard equipment (since it's standard, everyone has it so there's not much room for confusion). Thus the Dreadnought always has the combi bolter on DCCW arm unless he replaces the whole arm with something else (which he doesn't). Curiously enough, by that logic he would probably have one combi bolter on the arm that comes as standard, but not for the additional one  I think it's best to ask your tournament organizers about this exact case. maniclurker
I think if my opponent tried to argue that he got to do a blood rage instead of shooting because he decided not to model the required equipment, then I'd decide not to let him use them non-WYSIWYG model. And I'd have to bet that would be a perfectly acceptable solution in most tourneys. This takes trying to RAW special abilities or extras out of the rules to an all new low... solkan
The combi bolter is described as being part of the close combat arm. Since you can't take only part of an upgrade (you aren't allowed to only take one of a pair of sponsons, you can't take part of a lascannon, etc.) you either have a close combat arm with built in combi-bolter or you don't have an upgrade.
