Just want a clarification

Recommended Posts

Okay, this is more for my Tyranid army, but I wanted to make sure I'm reading the run rule correctly. As the rules say Infantry may run in the Shooting Phase instead of firing weapons. That's set in stone so here comes the tricky part. Can units that use the Infantry rules for movement (MC's, Walkers, Jump Infantry, Beasts, and Cavalry) Run as well? Also, while I'm at it, are Gargoyles and other Nids with Winged allowed to Run, especially since Gargoyles have Fleet?

Run! from page 16 of the 5th Edition Rulebook - "In their Shooting phase, units may choose to run instead of firing, immediately moving D6". Running movement is not affected by difficult terrain - it is always simply D6"- but models running through Dangerous Terrain must test as normal. ect ect ect"

Vehicles have a rule preventing running, as do bikes and jet bikes, as they use different rules for moving. This leaves the other unit types to using Infantry rules that I've already identified. So my question still stands.

anything that moves can run unless it states otherwise in the unit type description in the BBB. bikes, jet bikes, artillery I think are the only unit types that may NOT run (from memory). no reason that an IC could not. vehicles cannot run, only walkers.

fleet is run, with assaulting allowed after, therefore anythign with fleet may run...

read through the core BBB sections again, and refer to the special rules for a unit type (that is not infantry) when you aren't sure. remember that vehicles follow vehicle rules, modified based on the type of vehicle (fast/skimmer/etc...), and all ICs and units follow infantry rules except as stated in the special unit types section just before the vehicle rules (or IC rules).

hope that helps
