the raised leg is too long, i was planning on using the knee pad and such to hide it but alas, failure, so im gonna have to cut the leg off, shorten and reattach

for the leg size:

ive seen many version of SoB and they never made sense to me, athletic/physical women usually have quite large legs, and more petite upper bodies...but it always seemed as though they made SoB armour skin tight, which made me wonder, how the hell it functions :)

HOWEVER that being said, this camera is a piece of crap on low battery and flattens pictures

this gives a bit more of an idea for scale, however it still shrinks and fattens her legs, they are a bit longer/slimmer looking...it should also help once i have more work done to the upper body, because right now the slim torso makes her legs look bigger i think

ive extended the crotch plate, once it dries i will shape it into a more fitting way, added the knee parts, still need to shape

the main trick i think is because each armour section is not the full section of a leg, because of how bulky amour is, it wouldnt be functional if it went up or down much further, her hip is actually right around where the belt is currently

that being said im going to shrink that raised leg and reposition on a slight angle, its too straight right now...also doing this wil allow me to fix the error Brother Gothard mentioned with the hamstring

@MFV, its actually you and nipples who made me jealous and got me back sculpting :)

@wiplash, thanks, i plan on taking the time to do it right so hopefully the result will be worth it!

Aha, same goes for me.

I would only recommend that you lengthen the ankles. Also I don't know exactly what you are planning to do with her raised leg, but you should try to get someone to model that pose for you; it's sort of wonky how far out her thigh is rotated. In the painting, her crotch faces the same direction as the raised leg, making the twist less odd.

Just pointing it out, it's always been one of my favorite illustrations.

yup i agree, thats why when i cut the leg off to shorten, im gonna angle it slightly, it should also help me get the angles of the thigh plates the same(the angle of where it ends near the crotch)...im terrible with armature...i really need to print off the scale sheets for when i make them, and work from that, but i havent done much sculpting so never got around to it

i should be able to make a bit more progress today :cuss

Hey Alex!

I really like your work in this topic, especially the Azrael! gonna to love the beign and green :)

you know how long I have been waiting for your sister sculpt. :cuss

FINALLY! you start on it. Look really nice so far. I like it! The new-style vision would be awesome!

Something I want to ask you about the figure is how you going to do the high-heeled shoes? Or maybe I mean are you going to sculpt it?

because I have a look and a quick check on the artworks and sister of battle, I think they got the high-heeled shoes on.

Just wonder did you forgot about it, or not?

Hopefully, this can be a reminder @@

Also, I have just looking at your female sculpt on the other site. It look very good.

You are a monster man(kidding), you can paint and sculpt. You are cool ! ;)

Look forward to see more work from you!

Mike.

grrrr.......once again useless armatures have screwed my sculpt up....the resting legs pin doesnt go through the foot cuz i screwed up initially, so i have nothing to really connect that piece to the main body nor the foot on the rock...so im gonna have to create the joint on the hip before i can attach the leg back, and then to the foot..WHAT A PAINNNNN

anyways ive cut off the leg, turned the body slightly, shortened the thigh plate on the inside of the thigh, it is now equal to the other one

ive trimmed the torso she was leaning forward too much, so im adjusting that

and now i have to adjust the standing leg, its not under her bodyweight enough, so im moving the foot back a bit, the curve of the leg already works for this

this SHOULD correct the minor errors...should....

i will be doing high heeled shoes like the ones in the painting, but with some adjustments....i still need to attach pins for the arms, and the head, i think ill sculpt the head off the body

I thought the SOB was bigger... did you think of using an eldar guardian for a base for it? It would make a pretty good armature.

i hate converting...the original sob is bigger, but this ones 28mm, its a new one

plus if i used a model for a base i wouldnt be learning the extent of sculpting, so id be cheating myself a bit

ANNNND celestine about 60% complete

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/Starks3333/40k/BnC%20Figs/P1012253.jpg

not so keen on the pastel-y azrael - i still love it but not sure the pastel-y look suits 40k, then again its probably the pictures causing this effect

love the celestine though! i prefer SOB i creams, whites and blues rather than reds and metallics so this is definately my cup of tea <_< fabulous model too! the lighting on her face is perfect

her thighs seem to be the brightest part of her body at the moment though so my eyes are drawn to the chest/hip area rather than the face, dunno whether this is intentional or not just thought i'd bring it up

def the photos, these are just quick ones, and i havent taken time to play with the setup, it never works for an easy place and go, and i dont enjoy photography enough to put more effort right now...i will get better pics for when i put them for sale though...but they will still be only decent

celestine is brighter at the top but her midsection stands out a bit and thus the camera focussed on it(you can see that the head is slightly blurred), while the light brightened all the highlights up more, so everything just looks white...in person her one shoulder pad is the brightest, and you will move from it to the face immediately, or other way around, im biased so im not certain which, it was the only way i could do a model fully in whites while still moving the focus to the face while maintaining a softer skintone

@lmyrick, thanks <_< the army im doing should be to this level, as ive manged to limit the model count

once celestine is finished, outside of adding a bit more to the CF army possibly, i will be done with painting for a bit, and will work on drawing and sculpting, and probably begin building the Scorpions army

i think its the best course of action

they were pieces ive had for a long time and wanted to paint, so ive painted them ...and now i will sell them(well once complete..)

im finishing off the clearing out of stuff, after the final few things are finished or sold i basically have the one small army left and a handful of quality figs(like 10? mostly all bigger than 28mm)

this thread is also designed for me to clearout more stuff...feel free to join in with it if interested and essentially get a free model but you have to paint it and post pics:P:

Lunchbox's librarian in progress:

the cape has been carved into a nicer shape, i need to add more to adjust the folds and bulk it up(its too thin compared to the rest of the robes so) a bit as well as make it a bit longer and fix the edges of it

Before i cut and carved it better

some random conversion and sculpting work

Techpriest conversion:

magic sculpt, green stuff, milliput, pewter cables from dragon forge, brass rod

eviscerator from the sisters repentia, a marine backpack, and some servo gear

simple conversions just to play with some things

True Scale/Proportions Termie Captain:

Magic Sculpt, milliput(barely any) and green stuff

marneus calgar torso, darkangel bare head, iron halo from SM commander, scratchbuilt legs

(the SoB is true 28mm scale just for an idea as to how large the terminator is) the job is rather basic, i decided to leave out details as im not painting this piece a friend is, so i didnt want to make it chapter specific or crowd with details, so its rather plain

Scratch Sculpt Sister of Battle:

milliput, green stuff, magic sculpt

i need to make adjustments as i continue, she keeps breaking because my armature was awful at the start...mostly playing around, never really had a concise plan hahaha
