Vassakov
As the title says, I've finally decided to put a long standing plan into action - a Rune Priest and his Wolf Guard (plus a WGBL as a test) in Doghouse "Gothic" Pattern Armour. Also, I've picked up a SW Battleforce to just bulk out the army a bit, and so this will be a log of my progress with this, and frankly anything else I do. Updates should be fairly frequent until Sept 3rd, and then A Levels get back underway... Yay. More Chemistry. :D So, without further rambling here is the (very) WIP Wolf Guard Battle Leader: .................. (Anyone want to suggest a name?) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1573.jpg And here he is with a Double Bladed Frost Blade and cloak (couresty of the WFB Chaos Warriors, which is also a good kit for Wolves because of the amount of feral looking "stabby" bits.) Oh, and a Combi Flamer... not sure how to do that yet. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1568.jpg Detail of the FB (I'm quite proud of this  ) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/RSCN1575.jpg And the head http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/RSCN1574.jpg Usual routine, thanks for looking, C&C welcome. And yes, I've noticed the mark on the knife *Grabs file* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144051-vassakov-goes-gothic/ Share on other sites
Terminatorinhell
i love the double chainsword thing, i tried making or a few months ago but it looks terrible :/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144051-vassakov-goes-gothic/#findComment-1669465 Share on other sites
ShinyRhino
Looks nice, and I'm not usually one for truescaling. The look fits the Space Wolves nicely. Theonly part I don't really like is the hair. Looks like he's got a wet mop on his head ;) Also, in the future, crop all the whitespace out of your photos, please. Makes them easier to see, and we'll get more detail. Keep going! First, your skill far exceeds mine. Let me just be straight about that before I offer criticism. The double chainsword looks a touch unwieldy. I think its because the "back" edge is just attached roughly to the "front" edge, while the handle appears to still be directly under the front edge. It gives an imbalanced feel. To describe it visually, I think the average person would expect _I_ instead of I_ ... if that makes any sense. Vassakov
Thanks to all those who have replied - nice to know I'm being watched! @Terminatorinhell - I shouldn't worry, this way attempt 2. What I did was put a knife from the SW sprue, shaved flat, to act as a seperater between the blades and that worked a lot better. Just experiment with bits, see what works. @ShinyRhino - Glad to see we're converting you! The photos are now being cropped, thanks for the advice. As for the hair, I'm leaving it for the moment. It always looks naff as GS, hopefully it will look better with paint. @Medwayman - My skill is mostly perseverance. And a big bits box. Don't worry about criticism, thats why they're up here! I can see what you mean about the Frostblade. I've tried shaving the sides down a bit and re-aligning it. I think it looks better, you? @Lord_Bunny - Thanks! Although I think the name can go in the "Maybe-but-probably-not" file for now. ;) Right, some more pics then. I've slapped a bit of paint on him and tided up the frostblade: http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1577.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1584.jpg Finally, an admission. The thread title is a little misleading - although the Gothic Pattern Command Squad will feature heavily, there will be other general army expansion bits, including (when GD rolls round) a Land Raider Prometheous, the contents of BfBR (suitably Wolfi-fied) and maybe some Drop Pods. If I am very lucky at GDUK. Here's a sneak peak at a new Pack for me though -=crappy Ozzie accent=- "Can you guess what it is yet?" :) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1589.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144051-vassakov-goes-gothic/#findComment-1670040 Share on other sites

Alpha PTP
Cool concept with the bike, but it wouldn't be able to turn. A+ for effort, I guess. The Marine is off to a promising start as well. Paint some more and get better pictures and I will judge then. BrianBlessed
Hey The bike is a cool idea but as Aplha PTP pointed out it wouln't be able to turn. How about a halftrack like this. Problem is it might look a bit orky though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144051-vassakov-goes-gothic/#findComment-1670415 Share on other sites

Patrick O)))
For the bike, as lame as it might sound, you could put some stabilizer type wheels on each side for turning? Really nicely executed though! brother natar
Wow, really good model. I think i may have to have a go at the 'Gothic' Marine armour, if i can get thet damn searchy to work ;) Anyhoo, as i said, really cool, but the Frostblade still needs a bit of work, i think *why not steal Ragnar's?) As far as the bike goes, yeah it wouldn't be able to turn... but having just the back wheel tracked as it is would look sort of lame. Hmm... You should be able to model triangular tracks on each side at the back, giving it more of a snowmobile look. Oh, and as for a name: Volkenrund (if it hasn't been used) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144051-vassakov-goes-gothic/#findComment-1670751 Share on other sites
Ardus
Good work on the marine conversion. How about a little GS facial hair. I'm not too sure about the double blade thouth. You could loose the tracks on the bike but add rivets, or traction chains to the tires. Ardus. I can see what you mean about the Frostblade. I've tried shaving the sides down a bit and re-aligning it. I think it looks better, you? Yes, looks significantly more teats than before. Just a personal preference though, I'd eliminate all space between them. (A) it would make it look like a double wide two-edge chainsword and ( it would eliminate any alignment issues you were having. madscuzzy
I love the tracked bike. Would love to steal the idea... but it has to be worked on. For instance, how would the upper tracks go through the bike and how would it return? I know tracks can be powered by tiny motors within the wheel itself, but the return has to come from somewhere. Putting through the body seems impossible unless the bike itself is widened, putting it under will change the profile, which is awesome as it is. I did mine replacing the wheels themselves with twin tracks, making the bike very long, and has a different feel to yours. (LINKIE)... would need to explore this concept more and be careful not to make it like the twin tracked ork bikes/buggies in DOW... Vassakov
Right, so the B&C is back and in the interim I have been busy. On the subject of the bike, basically I lost the wheels for them ages ago (they may have been thrown out "tidying" :P ) they've sat in my bits box listlessly. Recently I procured treads from an IG Chimera and tried a few things, but right now I'm at an inspirational blank on these guys, so this bit of the project is On Hold, until I can figure out where to go with them. Thanks a lot for the responses though, they've been great. Keep it up! So, apart from basing and a tiny bit of touching up the WGBL is done. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1592.jpg Scale shot with the latest WGPL http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1593.jpg And the next Gothic Marine, a WIP standard bearer (Needs: Standard :P ) http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1594.jpg Paint is being applied as I speak, update tonight/tomorrow morning. EDIT: God-Emperor, that picture of the standard bearer is diabolical. Sorry guys... Vassakov
Hmmm... Am I getting boring? Oh well, on with the show as they say. WGBL is finished, along with a WGPL (nearly - minor touching up is yet to be done) and 3/12 Blood Claws. The standard bearer is undergoing paint. Also, the pictures seem to make the BC's a lot worse than I see them - except for the pack leader. I hate him... cannot seem to get him right. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1595.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1598.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1601.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1599.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii189/vassakov/DSCN1603.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144051-vassakov-goes-gothic/#findComment-1674962 Share on other sites
