R-code
These are two shoulder pads I did up to get a feel for painting again. I haven't seriously painted a model in almost 8 years now so I wanted to get some trial runs in before I started work on my army. The color selection was taken right off of GW's "How-to". Detail of the Deathwing shoulder pad. I know my black-lining is a little thick and my feathering is sloppy. I'm quickly remembering what a PITA Citadel colors can be ;) Top shot of the Deathwing pad. I used one side as a color pallet to ensure I got my mixing right before I started actually blending. Minor highlights on the DA pad. I'm trying to stay away from the day-glo green look that you get when you over-highlight Dark Angels. Once I get my blending skills sorted out I'll make them a little brighter. Decal was just for kicks, I wanted to make sure I could make it lay flat over the shoulder pad without buckling. Took a few tries with the hobby knife and a few lost decals, but I think I got it! Any C&C welcome! ~Mike~ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144118-dark-angel-test-pieces/ Share on other sites
Celestin
Personally, I'm going with all hand-painted insignia instead of decals anymore, but the terminator pad looks good for a start. I really couldn't say based off the other one though, since it's a bit too monochromatic by itself. CarbonBased
Some micro-set and micro-sol work wonders on decals. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144118-dark-angel-test-pieces/#findComment-1670503 Share on other sites
