Long Fangs

For the sake of fluff I want to include a pack of long Fangs in my army. I have narrowed my options down to 2 choices, all plasma cannon or all missiles.

The predator is more cost efficient in lieu of las cannons or Heavy Bolters.

The appeal of missiles is its cost effectiveness, and its all around ability.

That being said, the plasam cannon costs an arm and a leg, but seems to be better vs hordes or MEQs.

I already plan on fielding a Predator with full las, a TDA lord with a combimelta, 5 wolf guard Terminators: 2 with cyclones and OBEL scouts for anti armor.

With the new cover save rules, the long fangs will always be a building or a ruin, to negate the small squad size a bit, but is 4 plasma cannons worth the cost over the missiles vs. MEQs?

i usually run lfs with two plasma and two laser canons....with split fire they work really well for me against those in my gaming group (nids, orks, necrons, black templars, eldar, chaos, and tau) but they also are some of my only hvy weapons...i have a pred but fitted for swarm armies so when it comes to hight toughness units with actual armor saves i find plasma well worth the price.

I use plasma cannons more often due to the higher % of power armored armies competing here. If I was going for pure fluff as well, I'd use plasma cannons... nothing says 2nd edition than a crap ton of plasma turned up on high shooting at full power. :P

I used missile launchers more heavily in my 13th company lists because of the ability to pop AV14. With having your OBEL scouts and pred. annihilator and stuff this shouldn't be a problem.

Missile launchers are a nice middle ground of heavy weapons, since they can be both anti-troop and anti-armor. Anti-2+ armor save, not so much though.

They're useful and cheap. Mix them with one other type of weapon, but not two, otherwise your shooting will probably get muddy. Plus, I always figure the Split Fire will end the moment the Long Fangs get shot because the sarge will be the first to die, so it's better you focus the Fangs on being effective against one specific group, Anti-troop or Anti-armor, so compliment your MLs with what works best with the job you want them to do.
