The Wolf of Fenris

Due to crash i couldn't post it earlier but here goes. Its a short story about how the Wolves got that strike cruiser called "the wolf of Fenris" back.

The Wolf of Fenris

Although Huron had captured the strike cruiser called the Wolf of Fenris he made one fatal mistake. The Spacewolves never forget, never forgive!

When Huron had captured the wolf of Fenris he did not waste time to put it to use, launching raid after raid on other Imperial ships. Those raids however were carefully watched by scouts ships of the Spacewolves themselves. Reporting every now and then back to the Great Wolf about appearances in certain sectors.

Huron might have been watchful of the Wolves but in time he forgot to watch his back. And that was the moment the Wolves had been waiting for.

The re-capturing of the Wolf of Fenris

They assembled a small fleet of cargo ships centered around a single strike cruiser called “The Lion’s pride” and send out messages in parts where Huron had often been sighted. It took some time before Huron and his Corsairs took the bait. But when he did he realized his mistake to late.

Shortly after half his forces had entered the cargo ships reports of them reached Huron ears but those were no reports of victory and loot and such, only the final screams of death and the howling of a pack of wolves reached him. Realizing his mistake Huron set out to make his escape but was caught off guard by the Lion’s pride which blocked its path.

He took no change and shot the ship down however this was the intention of the wolves all along. As during this time they entered the Wolf of Fenris and slaughtered everyone in their path .

Huron Runs

Facing defeat and a possible death Huron chooses to abandon his man and flees leaving the Wolf of Fenris behind in the hands of its true owners. The Spacewolves.

And to this day Huron has never attempted to capture a ship of the Spacewolves again fearing that the next time they might get the better of him.

FIN

So what do you think does it need some more or good enough?

As others have said, short for a short story, but it's straight to the point. I have trouble with those 100-500 word essays and such because writing more is so much more easier than writing shorter and still getting the point across. I tip my hat to you for a job well done. :P

Now how about we put that bar back on the ship and have an ale!

For a Space Marine to turn to chaos would be a VERY rare sight. And while Space Wolves don't top the pious chart, they're fairly high up on the loyalty chart. And the story doesn't take their combat doctrine into consideration. A Son of Russ would rather fall after a glorious fight with the taint of chaos than to switch to the winning side. Anyone with the smallest possibility of falling to the taint after the Gates of Morkai would be screened out by the Rune Priests to save the precious gene-seed.

That said, I found the original "Wolf of Fenris" story to seem like the concept was made up on the spot, then they ran with the idea.

Besides. We all know that you should always let a sleeping wolf lie. The story can't end there.

Like you all said i to found it strange that the Wolves were made look like they just handed the ship to Huron that was also the idea behind this story. I also think that they first had Ultramarines their but since they are the "uber guys of good" they settled on something like us.

BTW: it would be wise of GW to put a story in the next SW codex which deals with it like i did. Taking it back that is.

now i think it's very good but i never understood why the space wolves would ever turn to chaos. hey would never ever turn on their brothers. ? see where i'm coming from? i never understood and still don't may someone enlighten me please

the story of how Huron got the Wolf of Fenris is in the Chaos space marine codex. *he captured it, the wolves didn't turn chaos (that's crazy: wolves turning chaos)*. but like spacefrisiam stated, i believe that we kinda got the short end of the stick with the story. IMO there's no way the wolves on the ship would have been sitting around not expecting potential boarding action..... besides i think most of the wolves would of preferred boarding action to ship to ship fighting any way.

*forgot to put this line in*
