Brother Mord
I have decided to strip down my first ever marine DIY army, collected maybe 15 years ago or so. I wanted to do a Codex chapter in preperation for the new codex as my current army is Black Templars and Guard. I hit this guy up in a day and a half My first time attempting to paint a lot of yellow on something. He got some errors to fix but he only a test The yellow looks a little brighter in the photo than in real life, its actually more golden yellow He's going to be First squad, Second Company I did him with a white undercoat base of Iyanden darksun Gryphonne sepia wash couple coats of Golden yellow and light sunbust yellow highlights Things I learned: The foundation paint is great The wash takes a few coats to get dark and you have to put it where you want it, not over entire model like inks drybrushing the golden yellow didnt work well have to do a couple coats of it painted on and wait for each coat to dry well I rushed it a bit Not sure if I like the base, I might go for a black ruin base but still pondering. Overall Im happy with the result as Im going for a table top quality with as little effort as possible The best part of redoing my old army is I come across old gems like this attack bike I get to repaint. I think Horus and Dorn use to take it for joyrides when they were kids -_- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144395-test-imperial-fist/ Share on other sites

Brother Mord
No not Blood Angles, I did originally base them on a Blood Angle sucessor chapter before they actually wrote sucessor chapters for them. They changed their name and who they were based on several times as codexes came out. They were originally painted black with red trim, looked too much like death company in hindsight. I was never really happy with them which was why I started Black Templars. I am doing these guys as Imperial Fists for a completly opposite look. I too love whipping out old school models now and then. I mix quite a few in with my templar army. No one really notices the old troopers unless they really look. How often do you see the old "Dome" predator anymore. My heavy weapons and devestator guys for this army are almost all going to have the old mounted on the shoulder heavy weapons :D .
