BT Mk. V. Dreadnought and SB Terminators

Nothing terribly fancy, but here's some pics of a finished Black Templars Dreadnought, with Close Combat Weapon and Assault Cannon. I also painted up the Lascannon and Missile launcher, but they're not pictured.

I also finished a Sword Brethren Terminator Squad:

They all look great and the highlighting is superb. I especially like the dreadnought, all the Templar crosses work well. Do you have any more pictures of your work? Any Crusader squads, Marshals, even an Emperor's Champion to show? I'd love to see more Black Templars from you in the future instead of those dirty greenskins. ^_^
I really like the maltese cross on the dreadnoughts right leg - very funky :tu:

Is that some Asian style script/character (I'm not sure if that is the correct term or not ^_^ ) written on the dreadnoughts power fist?

i think it's a fancy 'D' like old english (or in 40K terms a high gothic 'D' ^_^ )

Ah, you've outed me. I'm actually working on Orks and Templars at the same time. Keeps me from going shakk wakky on one of the armies or not. I also just finished up some Tankbustas :tu:

Currently, of the Templars, I have the two above units painted, plus one 10 Marine Crusader squad, and an Emperor's Champion.

Here's a link to the whole collection:

In terms of what I have built but not painted, I also have 5 Initiates with Jump Packs, 10 Initiates with bolters, 10 Initiates with Bolt Pistol/CCW (including one power weapon), 5 Neophytes with BP/CCW, Several heavy weapons options built out of a devastator squad, 1 Vindicator, and a Marshall/Castellan... I'm trying to limit myself to all-plastic just to see if I can do it.

It's funny about the Maltese Cross on the leg, but that's actually a decal that I did some additional painting to to give it some depth... it's one of the few examples of something looking better in a picture than in person :)

I should probably do some close ups and different angles of the Terminators...

I've seen you're work on the WAAAGH!!! I quite like your Orks especially the Nobz using the WFB plastic Black Orks set. The Crusader squad is top notch, I'm looking forward to your said Marshal/Castellan conversion. Good luck with both of your forces though. :)
Awesome Templars Agatheron!! I love the highlights on your black armour. It looks like its not pure gray, which is what makes your stuff stand out a bit. Would you mind giving us the recipe's for your black??

Thanks for the feedback. I've always had issue with highlighting black using greys... even Shadow Grey still pulls the rest of the black to look more greyish... although not as much. I also use the black technique for my Goff Orks too...

In this case, I use a colour from Privateer Press' Formula p3 line called "Coal Black" as my highlight colour. I start with a Chaos Black base, and then mix increasing amounts of Coal Black to the Chaos Black to blend up the colour. On the edges, I use coal black pretty much straight for extreme highlighting, even mixing in a little bit of Ice Blue in order to sharpen up the reflection points on the edges.

Alternatively, if you don't have access to the p3 line of paints, try mixing Hawk Turquoise with Chaos Black and you'll get a similar effect. Coal Black is a very dark turquoise colour, looking almost greenish blue... So using Hawk Turquoise works well. A friend of mine tried this technique, and it worked well for him.

The advantage to this method is that it doesn't turn the blacks greyish... in fact, it ends up looking more black than models highlighted using greys...

Hope that helps...

At the moment I have 30 gretchin on my table that require painting. My next Templar Project will likely be my Vindicator or another Crusader Squad with BP/CCW options. I forgot to mention, I also have a Mk. IV Black Templar VEnerable Dread from Forgeworld. I'm just waiting on the Close Combat arm to come in.
