Pyriel
Takes about 8-10 hours per mini with base, conversions and all. My aim is to paint up 25-ish terminators, 40-ish grey knights, 3 dreads, 3 landraiders ...aaand that´s about it ;) Finally came up with a nice colour scheme and figured out what to use for backpacks and shoulderpads as well as shoulderpad trims. The aim is to do this while not going insane (am starting to dream gray). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/Pyriel/Miniatures/PAGKgroup.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/Pyriel/Miniatures/PAGK.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/Pyriel/Miniatures/PAGK2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/Pyriel/Miniatures/PAGK1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/Pyriel/Miniatures/PAGK6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/Pyriel/Miniatures/PAGK5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/Pyriel/Miniatures/PAGK4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/Pyriel/Miniatures/PAGK3.jpg Any ideas for improvement are gladly accepted! Auedawen
Well damn, and i thought mine were pretty nice for nearly the same amount of time. Well bugger, great job on them, I may have to steal the red Stormbolter bit to give mine a bit more color. Any plans to ink the parchment on those guys at all or are you just going to leave them as is? Ambro
I like the way you have highlighted the armour going from a really dark black colour all the way to pure white. My colour scheme is similar to yours except I didnt highlight as extreme as that and I did the power weapons red as well. What colours did you use for the armour? Pyriel
The colours used for the armour are black and white in various combinations. I get true "grey" grey knights and I kinda fell for that finish. Ambro
Yea I think grey knights look better in grey than metallics as well, although mine didnt turn out as good as yours I think its because I didnt add that extra layer of extreme highlight like these so ill try it out and see if it improves them. SpideyScott
perhaps if you have the time you could explain your method for painting them. Ive still got plenty of my own to paint and was wondering how you went about it? Pyriel
When I finally get me a camera I´ll do a thorough tutorial on a GK. What bothers me is all this work put into them is in reality being punished. The LOS rules dont exactly favour wild poses and high bases ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144607-some-of-my-grey-knights/#findComment-1676473 Share on other sites

the_Armyman
Beautiful work, Pyriel. Definitely some GKs you can be proud of. When painting an army to this standard, the one thing you can always be thankful for is the obscene points cost of the GK models  Less is more in this case! Probably the *only* criticism I can really make is that I would have liked to have seen the justicar's weapon painted slightly differently than his brethren, if for no other reason than in-game effects. And, yeah, it completely sucks that TLOS makes people like you pay a cost for nice bases. Ambro
And, yeah, it completely sucks that TLOS makes people like you pay a cost for nice bases. But remember you can see enemy models more easily as well because your stood on top of a rock. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144607-some-of-my-grey-knights/#findComment-1677377 Share on other sites

GumbaFish
I'm not a huge fan of NMM but these do look pretty nice, and a whole army together would really standout on the table. I have to applaud you for the will to start a project like this, hopefully your sanity remains intact. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144607-some-of-my-grey-knights/#findComment-1685663 Share on other sites
DarKHaZZ13
dude your looking at TLOS with RAW in mind too much it should be from how the model came... so the size of a standerd marine plus you get the added height for yourself rules aside these guys look fantastic and after seeing this thread I went out and bought myself some GK's don't know if I can pull off the NMM (I'm not a fan of NMM, but these guys look sweet - nice job) but GK's are cool either way can't wait to see the GKT's sooon?
