The "Wolf Time" is approaching

Thanks for the comments guys!

The Long Fangs look nice, although 3 top knots seem a bit much for one squad (unless it is something to do with Long Fang background). Looking forward to see what else you come up with them.

None of the heads are glued on yet, I was trying out the topnots; I'll probably keep one and add a third bare head.

The venerable dreadnought looks great...I'm particularly fond of that look. What did you use for the body part of the sarcophagus. It looks like the back part of a marine torso, but not sure from where. Could we get a different angle on the dreadnought as well...want to see how far forward the sarcophagus is.

It's the back of the Chaos gunner torso from the vehicle sprue. I'll get shots from all angles as I progress with the modeling.

@ Megalodon: My comments are already on your blog. :)

That looks very nice. So how do you do the molding in green stuff? Ive only ever done molds for silver.

I will be putting up a step by step tutorial on my off site blog when I'm done. I'll post a link to it, cause I wouldn't wanna break any forum rules.

Thanks for the comments and encouragement!

I improved the face mask on the helmet and built the rest of the GH. I still need to fill in the wrists, but I'm really liking how he's turned out.

I've read the whole thread but I'm drawn back to this pose. Hope you don't mind but I'm going to have to knick it :D

As far as the rest goes - some lovely conversions and very nice gs m8 and loads of inspiration.

Thanks for the great Feedback!

Tonight I should have new progress shots of the Ven Dread up plus some sort of update on the Fangs.

Grimmaw, the axe is from the old WFB Dwarf regiment, and you can expect to see more as the army progresses.

Doghouse, if you think these are great just wait 'til you see what I've got planned for my Wolf Lord! :D

Here is the Dread bout 95% complete. I still have a couple of things to clean up. The Wolfs head on the AC didn't quite turn out like I had hoped, but over all I'm happy with the conversion. Now that I've done this conversion and have banged out the wrinkles, I will be able to do another conversion like this and it will be much easier next time.

Oooooo. Great Dread. The only problem I can see is that the tail on his gun arm and his purity seal don't seem to be flowing in the same direction as the rest of pelts. But that is being REALLY picky. And I'm surprised you didn't use a SW torso on it's front, but I like the one you've got just fine.

I agree. Great Dread, but the one wolf tail and the purity seal are off a little. The other comment I have is on the Wolf Head for the Assault Cannon. Have you thought of morphing that head with the Demon Head used on Chaos Vehicle weapons? You could slide the head down a little and have the shots coming from the wolf's open maw. Might look really cool.

Nice work.

I think I solved the wolfs head issue. I took it off and removed the support arm for the barrels so it would fit further back, then remounted it on top of the muzzle. I already addressed the flow issues, they look much better now.

I just primed the Dread and am going to start painting him, I'll get some pics up tonight.

I monkeyed with the wolfs head on the AC muzzle and now I think it looks much better. Painting has commenced! I did the base work for the metallics, blocked out the grey on the Dread except on the CCW. I had started out by paining the CCW red but it was too stark of a contrast; so I'll have to paint the details back in.

I'll do some more work after I get back from my Flames of War gaming session.

Here are the first 5 Grey Hunters these will be part of my first Razorback pack.. All of my Grey Hunters will be wearing Mk 4 and Mk 6 armor. The second Hunter from the right still needs the toes of his boots GS'd; they are going to be the striped toes that were prevalent during the RT days. I should have the 6th Hunter wearing Mk 4 armor done tonight. Tomorrow I'll be adding the Night Runner badge to them as the mold should be fully cured now.

Here is an update on Skeld the Ven Dread. I decided to give the red DCCW a go and I really do like it. Red is the main contrasting color to my PA Wolves so the Dread need some too.

Skeld also is getting a new weapons option; the often underestimated twin linked Autocannon. This conversion is completely inspired by Grey Deaths Son of Medusa Dread.

3D Great Company Badges are a Go! The push mold is dry and I'm in the process of putting the Night Runner badge on the Grey Hunters.

I still need to clean it up a bit, but overall I'm excited that it worked out so well!

Thanks for the positive feedback!

Here are the Grey Hunters with the icons in place! They are ready for priming as soon as I add some gear to the 3rd Mk 4 Hunter.

Well met brother Megalodon

I have just taken a good look through your post and thought I should add my bit - to encourage that is

I too am a fan of the old school minis, they have a lot of character and the detailing was great. The only down side to them was their height compared to the new plastics and the lack of abdomen but when you marry them up with the newplastic torsos they look fab. As for your Predator, great paint job - tops

Loving your green stuff work, very tidy and sharp. Any chance of a 'how to' on the hair and beards to help us others who aren't too sure 'how to'??

Anyway, hats of to you for the detail, time and dedication you are putting into this army, I'm sure the end results will be awesome. Not wanting to drag up the past but are you well recovered from the broadside?? Hope they dished out a deserved amount of justice on the DD

Will be following your progress with interest
