mughi3
The time is upon us. The strike force is assembled, and battle is joined. The fleets at 1K The GKs- 6 strike cruisers master of the fleet(ld10) + 3 re-rolls The thousand sons 1 desolator 1 acheron 2 devestation. warmaster(ld9) + 2 re-rolls http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/BFGfleets.jpg Game- passing engagement. The 2 devestations were squadroned to make the most use of thier combined launch strength. the desolator and acheron were placed as close as they cold together given the scenerio fro mutual support. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/1kstart.jpg I lost intiative and had to move first. The devestation stayed at range lauching fighters in an attempt to lessen the thunderhawk threat. they made a wide flanking arc hoping to circle around and pincer the 4 GK cruisers between them and the desolator/archon. i only got 2 torpedo volleys off from the desolator all game. which were intercepted by thunderhawks both times. The maneuver cassed me to pass right through most of the GK force(2 of his ships were out of position having to swing arond a small moon to get back in the fight). it was a brutal pounding that set the acheron ablaze i ended up crippling one GK cruiser and doing some damage to another. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/1k1.jpg After such a brutal close range pass i used my position to pull away from the GK ships opening up the range to where the thunderhawks were the real threat. at first he made a few attempts at damaging the desolator but i made multiple repairs so he switched to going after my devestations. One of the devestations took repeated hits from direct fire and thunderhawk hits but i managed to repair him enough to keeep him in the fight. The desolator swung around the small moon while the devesttions turned in and gave all they had. I managed to criple 2 more cruisers in the process and kill one of them with a wave of bombers. The game came to an end as the desolator cleared the planet. loosing a broadside that killed another cruiser. with diminished strength and need to chase me down to get me into gun range the GKs broke off the engagement. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/1k2.jpg I came out of this with one damaged devestation and the loss of an acheron. in exchange for 3 GK strike cruisers. more than a fair exchange in my book. The thunderhawks were the biggest threat as i managed to stay out of his gun range for most of the game after that brutal first pass. Brother Nihm
Thank you for sharing. :P I never quite understood why BFG didn't take on, granted I've only tried playing 2 games (hard to find other BFG players) but they were fun.. Deneris
I still have fond memories of my Despolier-class Command Barge (The Deliverance) taking on AND beating most of an Imperial fleet, including an Emperor-class... In fluff, I still use the Deliverance :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144793-a-thousand-thousand-sons/#findComment-1679475 Share on other sites
