Metal Fingered Villain Posted September 12, 2008 Share Posted September 12, 2008 I'm not sure how I feel about this one, he just doesnt fit the toxic, poison breathing, baroque gothic lord of death. He looks like an armored wood elf with a manreaper. I will say this again, the skill, precision and technical ability in the sculpt is great, but the sculpts character seems rather flat and boring. Only comment from me is the Talbard thing between the legs is a little stiff, it doesn't have the same active movement as the rest of the figure. Keep it up! My only criticism is that he could really do with a cloak as he's depicted in artwork and the hood over his eyes could be deeper to sort of shadow and hide more of his face. Though I was wondering, isn't GW a bit reluctant about seeing people (even talentuous ones) casting things ? Maybe they do not care about "small productions" for as long as it does not become industrial ? Any hint, according to your personal experience ? Metal Fingered Villain Posted October 6, 2008 Share Posted October 6, 2008 Hmm, those second options don't say mortarion or deathguard at all, if is to be helmeted I'd think of a helmet more along the lines of something extremely simple but effective, for deathguard prefer simple but dependable battlegear. I'm surprised GW isn't all over you guys about your castings, as their seems to be a lot of IP infringement both on that dorn model and this one. Personally: I like him with the scythe, and thats not a gladius, its a short sword/broad sword (its too long to be a gladius :rolleyes: ). I'm very impressed with your skills, and the wood elf references? please ignore them, otherwise everything with a face scarf is wood elf. I like the helmet, but its a little power rangers 'bad guy' if you know what I mean. I think (IMO) a more 'knight style' helmet would work (and also better suit the sword/gun combo). And may I be the first to say: No cloak! I love the 'Image' of mortarion in a cloak, but if he is wearing one: A: it obscures too much detail B: is too small and insignificant (the result here). Maybe include a secondary email too, so people can ping you, and as another poster said, do you not worry about GW coming down on you at some point, pointing the finger and saying 'Oi! The head is an issue though... resculpt to more of a classical 'death shroud' look ala the Necron C'Tan. From the description of Moratarion I remember, he basically is Death as a Primarch. I'm sorry, but the backpack looks weak to me. Perhaps shorten the piping, and add a box section above the cylinder? In any case, all of the above are just suggestions. My thoughts, Rymeer Sorry to get this up from the death (would fit for Mortarion the Death *ggg*)...does anybody receive their Death Lord or did Hash vanished before he cast this miniature...because im still in need of two of these guys because they are ideal for proxy the Deathshroud...
