Land Raider Varients?

Right i was wondering

Because now there is so so so many Land Raider Varients

i was wondering would people allow us to use the likes of:

Crusaders, Terminus, Redeemer, Apollo etc.

 

i was just wondering becuase i really would like to use a Crusader for my new Alpha Legion army of which i will be getting soon

 

so what do you think

of course i would pay the points that are in the marine codex (the new one in October ;))

2 Defilers and 1 Land Raider

2 Defilers and 1 Vindicator

2 Defilers and 1 Havoc Squad

1 Defiler and 1 Land Raider and 1 Vindicator

1 Defiler and 1 Vindicator and 1 Havoc Squad

 

so what do you think

In apocalypse do whatever pleases you for normal games expect a lot of No's.

By all means I would allow you to do it. I think you should get whatever LR you want. Even if your regular opponents won't let you use it for regular games, you can at least use them for Apoc. Or you can have them "count as" regular Land Raiders in normal games.

but i don't understand why chaos couldn't use say a Crusader or a Redeemer

becuase surly they could defeat an enemy and then steal a new Land Raider Varient

 

espacially the Alpha Legion

they could probalby steal it from under a chapters nose

Because it's not in the codex ;)

 

Obviously it has more to do with making s/m's different from csm's then any fluff reasons.

I understand chaos not having landspeeders, man held plasmacannons, etc.

But not being able to change weopons on something we are allowed to take makes less sense.

It's like saying that chaos can only field tri-LC preds, they can't put AC and HB's on them :)

If anything I can see a chaos lord of a small army when confronted with the LC's blown off a LR saying "we don't have any LC's right now, rig up a bay of bolters ".

For friendly games do what you want but at a turnie it wont fly.hell I have a bask in my IW army when I play at home but its a vindie at any turnies I go to.just magnetize the sponsons and switch it out for ppl who wont alow it.

As it has already been said, in apocolypse it doesn't matter and in fact CSM using regular marine rules/formations is in the rules.

 

In a standard game however you have rules and fluff that prevent you from doing so. the most obvious one is of course-it's not in your codex. it would be like saying-hey we stole this eldar falcon with all it's xeno gizmo's which we do not really know how to operate, but i can use it right?

 

the point of chaos not having acess to the units made after the heresy is that they do not have the designs to produce or the ability to maintain the alternate vehicles configurations.
