This time I sculpted on the robes with the head and torso as a seperate piece, and sculpted the groin cloth on a bit of acetate/cellophane before lifting it, and fitting it. Its not perfect, but I think it looks more like cloth than the last one? Cheers all, your comments really help!! nurglespuss
Cheers :D LB, I've been making 'cloaks' for various models for a long long time, and simple icons, bionics etc. but have found robes a bit of a no go, until I decided to bite the bullet and try following a tutorial. Thanks again :> Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144950-second-attempt-at-terminator-robes/#findComment-1679807 Share on other sites
Antman677
the torso piece looks good but the tabard looks a bit small...might want to make it bigger... tortoise
Not bad. Your sculpting is too heavy though. Remember that small depressions become much more visible with shading and highlighting (like those mold lines that are almost invisible until you paint the damn thing). The cloth looks like you lifted it too soon. You should let it dry for about 30-40 minutes before liftinf so you don't deform the sculpting but the green is still pliable enough to be pushed into place. Ardus
Chest piece looks good, but the tabard part looks like it's a bit small and too many folds. Ardus. Skull_Lord
Better than the first, but the hangy part is still a bit small, not long and wide enough, but you are better with gs than me :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144950-second-attempt-at-terminator-robes/#findComment-1679851 Share on other sites
Lestat
Just a suggestion, but maybe you could go for a full-length robe ala DA style. But good work so far. tortoise
Cheers :> I will keep practicing! and try for lighter sculpting :> Indeed. My early attempts to sculpt weren't nearly as good as this. If you want to improve make sure you have a good range of tools. At the moment I'm using small clay shapers- they're pliable so seem easier to control than metal ones and they're great for smoothing greenstuff. If you haven't got some already you may find them a worthwhile investment. nurglespuss
Cheers Tortoise :> I shall give it another go this evening, and I'll try and find those tools (I currently have all the metal sculpting tools, and some rubber tipped ones from WHSmith). Practice makes perfect eh?! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/144950-second-attempt-at-terminator-robes/#findComment-1680438 Share on other sites
