n00byfied
Hi there, I'm starting a new Imperial Fist army and just wanted to get your thoughts about my color scheme. I was bored of the usual yellow and red and tried something different instead. It's meant to be the 7th company with purple helmets (ok, I know it would be the kneepads, if I was 100% accurate ;-)) Greetings, n00byfied http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/5157/unsolmarinerohe6.th.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145038-imperial-fist-7th-company/ Share on other sites
Iron Father Rik
It may just be Internet Explorer, but those pics are way too tiny to see anything mate. If it is the pictures, try to make them bigger. n00byfied
I also had a problem with a very grainy surface on the marines. I think some of the sand I used for basing the day before got on the mini before I primed it. Fortunately you can only realy see that on the pic Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145038-imperial-fist-7th-company/#findComment-1680973 Share on other sites

Cl4d
I don't think the grainyness has nothing to do with sand, it tends to do that when you paint thick layers straight out of the pot. Arcite
...mould...lines.... otherwise interesting purple for the helmets, yellow looks pretty good The mould lines are only just noticeable on the last image. Looks good, now get the whole chapter painted! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145038-imperial-fist-7th-company/#findComment-1681082 Share on other sites

Looks good, now get the whole chapter painted! :) They're all over the back pack. Other than the mold lines, I think you've done a good job. Yellow is certainly a challenging color to get right when painting. Wolf Lord Mjolnir
Hey dude, I like the colour scheme but agree that before you make any more marines try and remove the mould lines - it really improves the final effect. Not sure if you are from England but has anyone explained what 'Purple Helmet' means over here - I think if you knew you would not have used those words. Basically it refers to a gentleman's manhood!!! Back to the mini - good work mate. Skol. BobaHat
It's meant to be the 7th company with purple helmets (ok, I know it would be the kneepads,if I was 100% accurate ;-)) Actually, purple shoulder trims would be 100% accurate. Anyhoo... I really like the different colour scheme. Purple and yellow work well together and the freehand on the shoulder is exellent. It could do with some more shading (try watered down brown or Flesh Wash in the recesses) and some highlights (pure white actually works really well). As everyone has mentioned, the mould lines need to go, but other than that, it's great! n00byfied
Hi! First of all, thanks for the many comments, it really motivates me to keep on painting :-) I gotta admit that I was pretty lazy with the mold lines. I put a Squad togehter with leftovers from my old sprues and was a little bit too greedy for painting them ^^. I'll try to do it better next time. I used an airbrush for the yellow paint, which works pretty good. Painting so much yellow with a brush can be very exhausting, airbrush takes just 10 minutes to get a solid coverage for the basecoat for a whole squad. Not sure if you are from England but has anyone explained what 'Purple Helmet' means over here - I think if you knew you would not have used those words. Basically it refers to a gentleman's manhood!!! golly! Sorry, I didn't know that, I'm from Austria ^^ Pretty funny anyway.... Please correct me if I happen to say something like that again :) By the way: I've made some bases and can't decide which one to use for my army. Maybe you can give me your thoughts about this. http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/6112/bases2eg2.jpg Greetings Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145038-imperial-fist-7th-company/#findComment-1681718 Share on other sites

n00byfied
Good evening. After I had some very crazy ideas about weathering I tried this out. It's just between a total mess and a nice paintjob. ^^ What do you think? http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/9335/weatheringwebon8.jpg I liked both the snow and the swamp base, so I combined them :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145038-imperial-fist-7th-company/#findComment-1682221 Share on other sites
