Hey all! :unsure: This is My first post here on these forums after i signed up yesterday. A local hobby store in my area is hosting a Rogue Trader tournament in about a Month. So I've decided that i want to make a new army to fit the 1700 points limit for the Tournament. So! Here we are.. I haven't thought of a lot of fluff for this new army. But I've got a name and a overall theme or aspect of the Chapter. Soon i will make an elaborate Back story and names for each of the Marines, what makes their Commander so Amazing... all that fun stuff. I decided to call them the Star Shades and i really have always had an obsession with anything Stealth related, so naturally. I'm going to make my own chapter in the existing SM codex using nifty things like 'See but don't be seen.' And Really try to nail this Stealth based chapter with a respective army list. But that's enough ranting.. on to the Concept and my first Marine! I'm pleased with it i guess.. Doesn't look to shabby, i probably won't use 'battle damage' on my actual Marines. And Also i changed the hue to make the Purple appear as it does through your eyes... but doing that Made the highlights look crazy extreme and also make it look sloppy with some of the highlights colliding with 'battle damage'. Don't make any conversions that will mess up your models so that they have equipment they can't really use. On a side note: the painting is great! I've decided to really try and hit this chapter hard now that I've been given some backbone. So today i went and got 2 veteran squads, a chaplain, tactical squad and ordered a Space marine Commander. Altho thats my old marine army, not the new one i'm doing. Yeah that's exactly what I'm doing too! I've got 3 Sniper scout squads and 1 regular scout squad. And 2 Veteran Squads. So most of my army can be infiltrated right off the bat! Lol i was serious when i was talking about an Army of Stealth SM's. I've got only 1 Tactical squad for regular tactical stuff, and 1 devastator squad. If i can infiltrate the devastator squad, I'll have plenty of long range fire power with sniper rifles and heavy weapons. I guess, I'm finally back to share with y'all what I've been up to with my Star Shades Chapter. The original plan was pretty nice, with use of the 4th ED codex.. until the 5th one came around and crapped on my day with what would happen to the veteran rules. But still, I must press on. I've been really busy the last few months, that really put me off track with the Army, as my name implies.. I am an MC. (Microphone controller, Master of Ceremonies.. Etc) And I was given the chance to put out an EP with a Local label here in my City, so i did that; After a ton of shows and press, a CD release, hustling my own product at the corners of shopping malls and coffee shops everywhere and lots of shameless self promotion(such as this.) Not to Mention the Heroic intervention of a wonderful young lady who's stolen my heart, and my attention for awhile too. I was able to take a small break from the Music industry, and hopefully the start of my music Career. Before I get to the fun PA related stuff.. If anyone is interested in Intellectual 'Out there', Hip Hop, give me a shot. Plenty of places you can hear my EP, and if you dare.. buy it! Brief description of the Mentality behind the EP, 'My name is Malevolent but i don't fit it's Definition.' Basically means: People are not as black and white as words, and that being so, you can't use 1 word to define anyone. And i think I am a good example of that, The Hip Hop socialite who loves himself some 40k. I really like the deep purple and the green details like the pipes on Shrikes claws really make the model stand out. The Shrike model looks fantastic,much better than the Raven Guard Scheme in my opinion. Love the robes on the Vanguard Vets too. Fantastic work,looking forward to seeing some more of these marines. Just takes a little practice building up the colors. And yeah, It's liche purple with Leviathan Purple wash thrown in there. And also Chaplainmikey thanks for your words man, I appreciate it. I personally like this Shrike too! Thanks man, I appreciate it. I mostly prefer a clean look for some reason on my Marines. And the only thing i was trying to nail was 'Stealth' with the Color scheme.
