Moonstalker
So, inspired by various pictures of Truescale marines here and on other forums, as well as Doghouse's in-progress tutorial, I've decided to do some myself. Being a loyal son of Fenris, I've decided that I have to stick with Space Wolves, and the best way to fit truescale marines into my current force is as 13th Company. I'll be fielding them as "count as" terminators (Grey Slayers are SB/PFist, Storm Claws are dual LC), but I'm not sure how to do it. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the three options below: 1: Deathwing. As silly as it sounds, Deathwing seem like a good option. A Grey Slayer Squad, a Storm Claw Squad, and a WGBL (Belial) is a force that can be fielded by itself. Deathwing Assault can represent a Rune Priest using The Gate to bring them onto the battlefield. The drawback is that it might confuse some people (these Space Wolves are actually Dark Angels!) and it's a little weird with the whole Blood Feud thing. Also don't get the latest and greatest gear from the new Marine codex coming out. 2: Space Wolves Wolf Guard. This option lets me do things like hand out wolf pelts and further customize weapon load outs to more accurately represent the Grey Slayers and Storm Claws from Eye of Terror. However, this option would probably be extraordinarily expensive points-wise (since I'd need a WGBL to lead each squad, and Wolves termies are already a bit expensive), and would likely be limited to Apoc games (though I could field it in a normal game if I had the points to spare). 3: Vanilla Marines. Librarian is rumored to have a Gate-like psychic power. Captain with a relic blade and other gear could represent a WGBL with a really nice Frost Blade. The Termies are, well, Termies. Downsides are that it's an Apoc-only force, and I'm not too hot on vanilla marines. So, what do you think? How would Truescale 13th Company marines be best represented? barek
I think true scale 13 th Company marines would be best represented by Truescale Grey Slayers and Truescale Storm Claws teleported by your 13th Co Truescale Rune Priest. Edit: but the sight of Truescale Slayers armed with combibolters, powerfists , lightning claws and assault cannons teleporting in would be great indeed. Just don't forget to give each of them an obvious belt of Barek which gives a 2+/5+ save. I also think you would have to give them some kind of teleporting equipment, maybe carried by some warp creatures which serve as chaptors bondsmen. I'd design a new Wolf badge. Use deathwing rules but don't be surprised if you run into trouble if you go to tournaments. For friendly games this could be a very nice project. Moonstalker
how about movie marines? As fun as that would be, I don't think I'd get to field them more than once if I did that. BLACK BLΠFLY
Pete Haines wrote the rules tongue in cheek and published them in White Dwarf. Basically one tactical squad could wipe out an entire enemy army. 0b  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145093-ruleset-for-truescale-space-wolves-13th-company/#findComment-1685648 Share on other sites

Heavy weapons aren't fluffy in Grey Slayer/Storm Claw squads, and AC's themselves are mostly post-Heresy. I might do regular marines. Under the new dex, I could take a 10 man squad of regular terminators, give them two cyclone launchers, then deploy them using combat squads and call one a Grey Slayers pack and one a Long Fangs pack (with a sergeant, 2 missile launcher troops, and 2 long fangs without heavies). Thylacine
Pete Haines wrote the rules tongue in cheek and published them in White Dwarf. Basically one tactical squad could wipe out an entire enemy army. 0b  He should have never written that article, the number of tools that turn up at battle bunkers, leagues and tournaments wanting to use those rules continues to grow. When they are told the rules were a joke, they look at you with a blank stare and start muttering that if it is in White Dwarf or Chapter Approved it is official and the MUST be allowed to use them. To make it worse some Redshirts that I know of built up Movie Marines lists and play them in the store against the regulars or try to use them in store leagues! The brain dead leading the brain dead. barek
Mr Kitwulven:I'm sorry. I did not realise you want to use terminator models. I like the idea and the not using assault cannons.
