SM chapter "Dragon's sons"

Thank you very much, Magnus Thane, for all these informations.

I'll digest all that, try to find the related codices and see what can fit with my low budget.

For example, even if the GI allies is a great idea, I don't think I'll go that way because

  • allies are not allowed in many tournaments (even if I never participate in one, I don't want to close that door)
  • I already have 2 armies (Orks and SM) and I'm not sure I want to start a new one, even if it's in complement of my SM.
  • I think scouts can be converted to make acceptable ninjas too.

@nurglespuss => Yes, BA Codex is downlable too in french on French GW site. For the BT, only the Q&A are downloadable...

May I introduce you the second finished piece of my chapter "Brother Primus" (as he is the first one I built) :

His friends will look like him except for

  • the chest dragon that I'll reserve for HQ or special troops. It takes me too much time and doesn't help gluing the gun.
  • helmet horns that exist in 4models for now.

What do you think ?

I think that's not to bad for table-top ;)

Thanks for the comments guys.

Is it board-legal to tell him to make himself some casts of his extra armor plates so he doesn't have to re-sculpt them every time?

Well, I'm not sure to understand well who is "him" (me ?). :P

If so,

  • you can talk directly to me, I won't bite you :)
  • have a look at the WIP of "Brother primus", You'll see that you weren't alone to have that idea ;)

Well, Tanks guys, such messages kick my lazy old a.. :HQ: to continue even when feeling bored.

For the moment, unfortunately, I don't have much to show.

I'm converting and painting the other SM I need to have my 2 troops entries.

As is, it's a quite repetitive work with not much new to be seen: I use my molds, make pennants and paint some new clip marines using Brother Primus as model.

As soon as they will be finished I'll make a little family portrait for you, Guys.

Thanks again for encouragement.

To thank you for these kind words a little WIP as a wink.

I had a clip rocket launcher Marine from a painting set but really didn't like its left arm with the firing device.

First because I think the trigger can be right handed, second because I found this arm badly sculpted and third, because It bothered me for sculpting the shoulder pad.

So, I cut it and... well, look at him with a few of his friends at different stages of progress :

It's not GD but I found it cool to convert.

... and, yes, I know, the new arm is a little bit to short

Hi all,

I didn't posted since a while but worked a bit on my Dragons sons.

Today, I discovered the "super macro" feature of my camera and wanted to try :

Not very amazing, but it was just to let you know I'm still alive

bayonets would be good, you could try the sarissa option from witch hunters if you dont mind the diy rule bending involved. you could also take blood angels with assault marines as troops, and thus have katana wielding marines running rampant. also, he'stan (counts as) would get the most out of any flamers you fielded.

this is an idea i toyed with: samurai marines is just too cool an idea.

Paintjobs look like they could use some inks/washes- there's very little definition in the yellow areas, and not much more in the brown. Get a brown-coloured wash and put it into the recesses and lines in the armour- makes them look much better. Otherwise, nicely done!

Thanks all for your appreciations. :)

You're totally right. I'm learning to paint on these guys and currently reading an excellent book from a French guy (Jeremy Bonamant Teboul) called "Le grand livre de la peinture sur figurines" (could be translated by "Great book of figurines painting") in which I learn plenty useful things.

By the way, I don't think I 'll do more work on the figs already done for the moment (I'd like to paint at least 750pts to play with them before) but I hope that the following ones will be better and better.
