BA vet sarg sketch [artwork]

Hi there guys. I'm not much of an artist, but I'm starting out learning basics by copying others. Which is how this sketch came about. A little while ago, MadScuzzy posted a brilliant sketch of a veteran for his army (See it here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...owtopic=144525). I have since copied and butchered it. No tracing involved (It's pretty dang similar). Just a slightly different (and worse) version of someone elses work.

Anyways, without further ado, here it is. And it, with the unwanted background smudgey awfulness removed via MS Paint (HA!). There was probably some tool in paint shop pro to do that for me in mere seconds, but whatever.

Comments, suggestions and insults welcome. Infact, encouraged. I've been abusive enough towards some of you guys to deserve some cruelty, haha.

Plagarism is the finest form of flattery, in my opinion anyway! I'm deliberately not looking at the work you based your sketch so I can give my opinion.

I think that the shading you've done on the power fist is great and think that if you went over the shading elsewhere on the sketch it would bring everything together a little more. The torso also looks a little thin together with the waist and groin. Also the leg in the air looks a little out of proportion as it would appear slightly smaller as it's further away from the leg on the ground.

These are just a few comments and I hope they help - I'm getting back into graphic art after too many years so I might even post my own work for you to comment on!

Thank you very much! I can definately see the problems you mentioned - I will try and avoid other such problems on my future efforts.

I was very pleased with how the shading on the powerfist went but the rest was a bit lacking, I thought. It's something I'm still working on.

I'll be glad to comment what I can on any of your art work should you choose to post it ;)

Thanks again!
