Eiric Hakon
I actualy got round to painting something! He's not very good, I havent hilighted, but I have used washes (but I missed the mould lines). I'm pleased with him though: http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x226/Eiric_Hakon/P1010860.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x226/Eiric_Hakon/P1010859-1.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x226/Eiric_Hakon/P1010861.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x226/Eiric_Hakon/P1010862.jpg He's my very first mini, C&C welcome as always! Edit: sorry for the poor photos
Thraximus
Looks like a good start. The backpack looks a little fuzzy, like its where the split scheme loses its focus. The white looks blotchy and uneven in some spots like the shoulder pad and legs.
Morkhai
Looks a whole lot better then my first mini I ever painted. I agree with Thrax that the white does look a little splotchy but I figured if some dude's wearing WHITE in a battlezone it wont stay the same shade for long. I would just highlight and base the figure and I think it would look pretty good as a standard line marine. Good job ^^
Eiric Hakon
Thanks for the kind words! Yea, my brush slipped on the backpack and havent corrected it...yet...The paint is a tad blotchy in parts (about 6 coats of paint does that for me)! When I next pick up a brush I'll touch him up! JetfireUK
I'm trying to remember my first ever finished marine - I think it was a metal Ultra Marine back in the days where you had to mix two blues together to get the right Ultra Marine colour. I don't think that it looked anything as good as this. Bravo for trying a split scheme on your first figure - a lot of people would have stuck to a single colour. As for tips, when painting your next figure, trying thinning the paint down a bit as a lot of thin coats really help to build the colour up. Otherwise you should be pleased with your first figure - hopefully the first of many.
Eiric Hakon
Thanks! You wouldn't belive it, but I was drybrushing (with foundation paints) :P ! Thanks for the tip, I can never water them down right.....
