Sir Phobos
Hello, I was just wondering if there is a way to make a Daemon Hunters army a tournament worthy army? (I am not opposed to taking inducted guard) My idea was an inquisitor lord with a retinue of heavy bolter servitors Brother Captain a big squad of 9 terminators as bodyguard 2 squads of Stormtroopers a Guard Platoon (For static AT) a couple of squads of Grey Knights (whats the best size, also with 5th edition should they be troops or FA?) a dreadnought or 2 for AT What do you guys/gals put in your purgation squads? Are they worth it or should I just stick with normal GKs and finally an Orbital Strike Thanks for any help you could provide. Melissia
They can be if used right-- but they are rather unforgiving of mistakes and bad luck. I'm no DH expert though, so I can't tell you if that list can be. revnow
This discussion has been hashed several times over. I would reccommend putting together a list labeled competitive and posting it in the army list forum. Cheesus
To be blunt, the list you have drafted wouldn't be a tourney list. It looks like a very friendly list. An orbital strike will never do anything. Ever. Even if it hits, generally your opponent will get a cover save. The huge terminator squad will kill one unit and then get shot to bits. Keep the squads small, max 5 and rely on shrouding to get you through. And guard will always let you down and run. Their leadership is garbage, unless you bring in command squad with voxes etc. It is possible to win a GT, I believe Australia GT 2004 was won by a pure GK player, it just requires a better general then other armies would require. number6
Here's a link to the recent discussion on exactly this topic. Rather than split, let's just continue there, shall we?
