Askren
So, I just posted the line art (or, most of it) to this here picture earlier today, and got a few reactions, and some nice criticism. I've gone back and touched up a few areas I personally didn't like, and am now working on coloring it, just so I can get an idea of how I want to do everything, and what it will look like when it's done. Plus, it gives me time to experiment with patterns and whatnot on the fabric. Anyway, before I head off to bed, I figured I'd post this WIP just to get some feedback, and show how I do my thing. I plan on putting a lot more detail into this then I tend to on digital colorings, and I hope it's worth it. http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/3541/chaplainwipmr1.png As you can see, I've settled on a Mortifactors color scheme, though it's pretty generic for a chaplain: Bone trim, skulls, black armor, copper, etc. Still debating things to add, like a cape, Iron halo, etc. Suggestions? Scar Weaver
Looks bad ass but I am a little confused to his posing and his left hand. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145723-artwork-lord-chaplain-virgil/#findComment-1689357 Share on other sites
Mr. Nipples
THe linework looks pretty clean, my only concern is proportions or in this case the lack of. Ideas cool, but its hard to tell whats going on and as Scar Weaver said the hand confuses me also. Maybe some shading and a darker background will help so we can figure it out but I still think the proportions need some work. Keep it up and keep churnin this stuff out its always good to see my fan art. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145723-artwork-lord-chaplain-virgil/#findComment-1689382 Share on other sites
Askren
The left forearm is resting on his thigh, while the hand is holding a swinging censer on a chain. The censer hasn't been drawn in, only part of the chain. only part of the hand is colored because the rest will be covered in chain. I assume that's what you meant? DutchKillsRambo
I like the drawing and all, but you might want to say hes from a different Chapter, as Mortifactors Chaplains are described as having armor the "color of spilt blood" in Warriors of Ultramar. Pretty much any other codex chapter would work though to keep him black. Keep up the good work.
