Space Wolf Standard Bearer

Okay following on from my Wolf Lord I've been playing with a Standard Bearer for my army. I have the day off today so the goal is to have him finished before my girlfriend gets home and stabs me for not having done anything "constructive".

He's converted mainly from Chaos Marine parts and obviously Space Wolf parts. I've used a bit of wire for the necklace and green stuff everywhere else. One of the hardest things I've did was cut the head up and put it back together and extended the fangs...it looks okay at the moment but I'm hoping when hes painted it'll look better.

Here's the construction

I've undercoated him with a black undercoat and then gone over that with a gray one, I know what I was trying to do but to be honest it hasn't made that much difference. I filed down some bit that looked odd once he'd been undercoated and I've started the base coating.

Like I said I'll be doing this all day so it's a race against the clock (#hears 24 style beeping counting down#)

Looks really nice. Two questions though 1) why is he facing away from where he appears to be shooting? 2) you doing a banner or leaving as a totem? Again looks really nice looking forward to the finished product that is of course if your girlfriend doesnt stab you... always a worry and i share your pain lol

I've done a wee bit more, I'm amazed how crap things look when they're half painted...I hope it looks better when its done.

The reason he's facing away is err...he's got really got peripheral vision. Yeah I see what you mean, when I was putting him together I tilted the pistol to make it look like he had fired and was roaring but it doesn't really come across. I guess I'll just have to remember next time.

I'm undecided on totem or banner at the moment I'll finish the paint job and see what the general consensus is.

I think the banner is fine, great model and you can really see those fangs protruding!

I kinda like the look of him shooting and roaring. It reminds me that Space Wolves are hardcore and they don't give a hoot about anything and blasting off wildly while roaring at the enemy to come get some is just what I think of when I think Space Wolves! ;)

It's not looking TOO bad, but yes, when he's fully painted he'll look much better. :P

Well this is far as I'm going to get till this evening, my girls about to come back and I'm still in my Pajamas...no that I wear pajamas. I'm not so keen on the eyes and I'm thinking of puttin a space wolf rune on the fore head of the topmost skull?

Comments are appreciated, thanks guys.

I'm guessing this will be the second last photo as the wee fella is pretty much done. I'm not putting anything on the knee of shoulders at the moment as the rest of the army is blank (I still havent thought of anything to put on the shoulders). A few more highlights, the backback and the banner and the base then done...that actually sounds like quite a bit now I come to think of it.

I'm not sure if people are going to get pissed my constantly putting up photos so if I'm doing somthing wrong forum wise, or painting wise please let me know. I've only just started painting again.
