nurglespuss
Cheers ^_^ I may make a few more after I finish my army (probably a dreadnought of the same design, and a commander) a power armoured version (unpainted) is below :> If you wanted to give it a go the following is all the stuff I use: Green stuff, 1mm and 2mm plasticard (2mm is for the shields and main leg armour extension) 1mm plastic rod (for bolts). Its easier on a plastic than metal model! http://photos-322.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-snc1/v321/128/96/633810322/n633810322_4020731_929.jpg http://photos-322.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-snc1/v321/128/96/633810322/n633810322_4020732_1276.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145736-glowing-eyeslights-and-stuff/#findComment-1689646 Share on other sites
Tiriel
The paint job is amazing, especially the weathering. But I'd say the green on the hammer is too much, you should make it another color, or maybe lighter (in terms of lcolor and of "light"). It attracks too much the eye imho right now. And there's too much green because of that xD The rest of the painting and the conversion are still fantastic anyway! That would just be the "little plus" finishing an awesome model imho! nurglespuss
Cheers man :> I too noticed this, and heve been trying to 'tone it down' a bit. Hopefully, his pose when based will show enough of the purple on the hammer to break it up ^_^ I would like to keep 'glowy green' power weapons, lights etc. as a bit of a theme to try nd tie the squad in together (I have a very disjointed idea for the whole squad thanks to stupid imagination!!). But your right, and thanks very much for the compliments!! nurglespuss
hmmm hats an interesting observation.... I'm still playing around with fluff ideas for the black wings but wasthinking their mottos should be 'function over form' type guys, doing what it takes to best take the fight to whatever enemy it may be. I've named the armour 'storm armour' as the armoured side is effectively the 'storm shield' and its meant specifically for use with thunder hammers. (had a mental image of a spartan-ish style advance of marines stopping to lock armour together before advancing again under covering fire, and swatting enemy/obstacles aside until objective is reached..... cheers! Next up will be a salamanders terminator for the squad (going to be 5 different chapter terminators for my secret project :D ). thanks again for the great comments! tortoise
I'm not sure about the pose. Everything else about it is pure win. The painting is great, the conversion is great and the character of the piece is superb. nurglespuss
Thanks tortoise :> WHats up with the pose? thats just a painting cork he is on, he's based now (pic once I get hold of some water effect) and he is stepping 'up' out of a muddy hole. I'll include the original 'prepaint' again just to clarify: http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v338/128/96/633810322/n633810322_3989969_5758.jpg Unfortunately both my local stores are out of water effect!! nurglespuss
Aye, your right ;) Fluff is minimal yet, I'm working on squad member 2 at the moment, then I'll post up a pic of him on his finished base :> I'll pop in a little snippet here: Space marine Chapter 1402 (not sure of number yet): Chapter colours: grey, battle worn, number printed on shoulder, haz stripes (not sure if red or yellow yet) on heavy weapons, access panels of vehicles etc. metallics in same style as this mini). Idea: Chapters need teaching, battlefield testing, observation etc. Well, I had the idea that some marines are better suited to this task of 'tutoring' than others, and these marines (old and well versed) could be contacted, and given the 'honour' of hlping teach a new generation. Now, the chapter is grey/numbered, as it is yet to 'earn' its name and colours, and progress to becomming a full autonomous chapter. So each squad is led by a veteran of another chapter, the 'first company' technically does not yet exist (its 'this' company), and neither does the foundling chapter have access to such relics as terminator armour, land raiders etc. yet) and so various experts and great heros (old, old heros etc) that have a wealth of knowledge also band together to form the only 'terminator' squad in the army. Other tutors will include a dreadnought, techmarine advisor etc. and each will come from a few selected chapters. In this case Veteran Sergeant Porthos (Black Wings) comes from a codex chapter, that has a heavy lean toward well coordinated infantry advances, and is an expert in both trench warfare, infantry manouvers and in dealing with the massed ranks of the enemy, on the ground. The other 'legends' of the squad all hail from different existing chapters. The veteran sergeants attached to infantry squads will typically have been former protejays (spelling sorry) of these old warhorses, and perform the task of exorting individual marines to their full potnetial, and weeding out potential specialists, or low performers. Anyway, thats the rough idea!! it gives me the opportunity to paint lots of different schemes, and to practice weatheering techniques etc. thanks for the interest!! nurglespuss
Cheers Ben, yep thats the idea! it gives me a bit of freedom, but I still get an army out of it (not just display minis). thanks!!
