Imperator Mos
Careful, it'll make you want to buy a Warhound like no other. Seriously, this book sheds all kinds of light on the daily workings of the Mechanicus. Very useful if you're building a Titan Legio, or want to roleplay a tech-priest in Dark Heresy or something. I went into my local GW yesterday and there were about ten copies on the cash-desk. So I'm guessing it's out...? I read the preview excerpt on the Black Library website and was hugely impressed. Looking forward to reading it at some stage. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145833-titanicus/#findComment-1698468 Share on other sites

Brother Pariah
I'll definitely give it a read. I like Abnett's stuff, and I like Titans, so I'll probably enjoy it. I certainly hope that it doesn't turn out to be "the best book I've ever read," though. That would be embarassing. OnlyInDeath
Bahhhhhhhhhh! I'm about 3/4 of the way through this book and I'm already sitting here thinking of ways that I could put together a small titan attack force with some skitarri support all custom built in the animalistic manner of the book.... Seriously though, 2 warhounds ambushing a wounded warlord and taking it down: Brilliant! A warlord ambushing and utterly annihilating 3 reavers: Amazing! I really really hate Abnet in that he writes a book that just sucks you into the book and makes you want to construct a massive army to try and duplicate a fraction of what is going on. Double Eagle made me want to try out Aeronauticus Imperialis, this makes me want a massive, custom built Ad Mech force...which I've always wanted to do anyway, but you get the point. Isiah
Well it looks like I'll be getting this one – skipped the last in the HH series, so looking forwards to some decent 40k reading again before the next installment. Battle-Captain Garro
It's Dan Abnett so frankly I'm not surprised that it's great. I hate the big hardbacks so I'm going to have to wait impatiently for the paperback to be released ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145833-titanicus/#findComment-1724184 Share on other sites
docbp87
Not scheduled for a US release until November, but I went into my local GW yesterday specifically looking for it (thinking it was already out) and I ended up getting the redshirt working to call around to a bunch of higher ups, eventually talking to a BL rep, and getting permission to sell it to me early, since it was in the computer to ring up already. I'm about 100 pages in, and really digging it so far. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145833-titanicus/#findComment-1724589 Share on other sites
Perry
theres a few interesting new things in Titanicus such as Warlord comanders have to be hooked up in a giant tank of fluid which they float around in Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145833-titanicus/#findComment-1725783 Share on other sites
Zeller
I got through the first 50 pages at my local bookstore before leaving and have some questions. Why is it that Chaos titans in this book and chaos in general in all the others are so damn hard to track? Is the cause of Annihilus Victus's fate ever revealed from gunbox footage? Why do chaos titans waste the time of day hunting down 17 infantrymen? How fast would the Imperium fall if the AdMech decided to leave? Severus6
Why do chaos titans waste the time of day hunting down 17 infantrymen? Because they are chaos and hunting down and killing for spite, a deep seated hatred for the Imperium or contempt for life in general is enough. Its what they do, its who they are,....they cant and wont change. How fast would the Imperium fall if the AdMech decided to leave? By Sunday next,...no, I am not joking,.... :tu: Severus6 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/145833-titanicus/#findComment-1726437 Share on other sites
Brother Pariah
It was okay. The characters weren't very interesting, though I enjoyed the old Princeps, Gearheart, losing his sanity. There were little tidbits scattered throughout that convinced me that Abnett had familiarized himself with background material from the earliest editions of Epic to the present, which was nice. Just when the plot started to drag, Abnett introduced the schism subplot, which spiced things up. Still, I think that I'll forget the book in a matter of days. I guess I give it a C. krystalmesh
Just finished up Killing Ground today, so this is next in my stack to read.
