Xanthier
Hello all! Not long ago in my local GW I was chatting with a friend and had the revelation of magnetic travel 40k - the ability to while away a long train or car journey with a game of 40k seemed incredibly tempting. As such, I set to work using epic figures, and managed this - a fully magnetic Warhammer 40,000 game with terrain and the first 2 1,500 point armies, all replete with magnets! Space Marines against Chaos: http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/Geckilian/travel40k.jpg Objective: http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/Geckilian/travel40kobjective.jpg Daemon Princes: http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/Geckilian/travel40kprinces.jpg Land Raider Redeemer: http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll176/Geckilian/travel40kredeemer.jpg Vigorous upside down shaking only dislodges the Thunderhawk due to it's excessive weight, everything else, including the metal land raider, stays firmly attached and doesn't move. There are also little templates, and each inch is scaled down to half a centimetre, so the board is a little over 4' x 4' when scaled up. I'd stated I'd get it finished before Games Day, and so help me, so I have. After the event I'll gradually work on another non-power armour army for this project, interspersed with other projects such as a Warhammer etc. Gotta say, it's pretty fun. Rogue Trader
That's fantastic! My only question - where do you roll the dice?! Seriously though, I can really see the appeal for whiling away long train journeys and the like. Is the scenery magnetic as well? Otherwise it could get a little repetitive playing over the same terrain layout over and over...
Commissar Molotov
You get my fullest applause for actually managing this! I'd love to see the templates you use.
Xanthier
The scenery is indeed magnetic, as everything happily packs away in to the board itself, since it's a case. As for dice, I use really small dice for this, heh. More pictures will be going up after Games Day, where with luck it'll get some notice.

lord_bunny
by not much! ;) have you ever heard of pirates? It was a game where you made your own 3d ships, and each pack came with tiny dice. Just what you need!
Xanthier
More tiny dice are always a good thing, heh. As for measurements, each inch is half a centimetre, everything works great then.

Deacoknight
Now all you need is a pop dice roller like the one that came in "Sorry!" and you'd be all set for the car. :)
Sergeant Centurius
YOU ARE MY GOD! Forget the friggin' Emperor! Seriously, well done. A small tutorial would be nice. Did you glue a magnet sheet under the flock? Are the figures' bases metal washers? where did you get the case it is on? Please tell so that we may try to emulate your genius!
