I looked for the chapter symbols the other day when you mentioned it, but the only stuff I really found was on Lexicanum - and am sure you knew about that anyway. The shoulder pads are looking excellent. I didn't think you'd be able to do it, due to lack of info rather than lack of skill! Since I last posted - Captain looks great. I really like the punch dagger on the scout, but think his neck appears a little too long. The combi-melta on the last command squad member looks great. Is that a conversion or not?? Like the assault sergeant but not sure about he red handle on the blade, looks a bit shiny. The freehand on the banner is excellent,my only criticism would be the skull has too many teeth. It makes it look a bit like feathers coming down, turning him into an owl, but very impressive overall. For the space underneath, I have an idea. A lectern (like in a church) often has an eagle standing on the Earth. I'm not a christian and not preaching but think it represents eagle soaring over us looking down/God looking down over us etc. etc... How about a similar theme?? Your eagle over Terra, or even attempt to paint a galaxy or universe. I know it is a little flawed in that an eagle will only fly over a single planet, not a universe but it's what first came to mind???? Keep them coming. I have an old Index Astartes article called "Emperor's Shield" from a WD when The Third War for Armageddon came out with the 25 chapters that participated in that for reference as well as the BoLS mini dex for the Badab War. I think it's the green stuff on the scout's neck that makes it look too long, it's really not so bad. I have since changed the number of teeth on the banner skull (not shown in the picture below), but I agree, it does look like an owl anyway. I may add some actual servo owls in the army later on. I'll be painting the squads in Deathwatch colours. Here's what I've done on the banner. The skull head has since been fixed to have less teeth, and generally improved I think. The vanguard look excellent. Not personally a massive fan of the jetpacks, but they certainly add more character than the standard ones! On the update on the 27/10/09 03:39, you put a pick up of a GS'd bolter magazine. Do you leave it like that or add the open-sided magazine side to them?? As for the bolter magazine, I did leave it that way on the one side, but the other side is like the bolter in the Oct 28 post. All the bolters I have made just have the one side showing, like the metal Sternguard bolters. I applaud your style and your work ethic (or should that be hobby ethic?). The Vanguard are shaping up to be a very distinctive and well-executed squad also. I am currently 1 vanguard short of a 10 man squad. That last statement seems like it could be a euphemism for being crazy. Anyway, I ran out of legs for the sternguard so I have to put them on hold until I can get some more. I received a wonderful bike conversion kit in the mail today from a generous individual on another forum. Having already bought the bike needed for the conversion, I set to work. The suspension/forks do not meet-up and what I assume is the front screen does not come above the handle bars. I do really like the idea of a marine on a proper moto GP bike though (which is how the front looks to me! Are you going to try and get a more forward pose on the bike rather than sitting back?? Still lots of GS work to do on it though. It's been a while since I've updated but it have been working on stuff. Mostly collecting the remainder of my army and priming the stuff I have. I have 10 more scouts now that I'll be painting up once they're built as well as a Land Raider that needs priming. I hope to get more work done on everything later this week. For now, here's a test of the static grass for the bases. I think it looks okay but want more opinions. I think the static grass looks pretty good as far as static grass goes, but I've never been a massive fan of grass of 40k bases. With regards to the post on the 5th November, vindicators are great, but I would try to take 2 if possible, 1 tends to attract a lot of fire.
