Painting: A yellow tutorial

Are the results like what Lamenter has posted or are they different. I would think that they would be a darker shade of marines but that's what I like =P

They're more golden brown and less of a bright yellow.

 

Works really well and isnt too difficult.

Interesting. I have the Lamenters army, as well -- however, my technique is a bit different from yours. What I use is to white prime it and then 3 drops (or 4) of yellow ink and 1 drop (or less) of brown ink.

i found the 2 parts yellow, 1 part flesh wash and 1 part water to be more brown than orange.. maybe its just my flesh wash is a few years old..

 

i might swap the flesh wash for a chestnut ink? will update if any good

To be honest I'm not sure. I tend to mix a lot of colours to get the shades I want.

 

If I wanted to reproduce that shade of purple I'd guess at a roughly equal mix of blue and red and then use black or white to darken or lighten. I always wash out old paint pots to reuse and mix my own colours.

 

I know I keep saying it but experimentation is really the key... at least the way I do things anyhow.

HAHA!! I use the same bloody way!! except ive found using a yellow ink makes it pretty good...yellow ink and a orange ink really makes it look awesome!!!

 

But your style I like a bit more, cleaner and waaaaaaaaay faster!
