northoceanbeach
Just simple question, are they immune to it? or only to weapons that are double their toughness. Can't remember. Was looking at Korsarro Khan and he bauses it on a to would of six, but I was thinking it seems everyone that you would want to instant kill is immune to it these days, but I was wondering about tyranids. maniclurker
Only creatures within synapse are immune to it. So... if you roll a 6 to wound a Carnifex with Khan, and the carnie isn't within synapse, it gos bye-bye. Cairnius
I can't remember the last time I played against a Tyranid opponent who did not manage to have his entire army within synapse range for the entire game. Immunity to instant death in synapse range is one of the MOST broken aspects of the current Tyranid Codex. Take three Zoanthropes as a single HQ choice, none of whom have to remain within coherency of one another, and make them Synapses. Synapse range for everyone, all the time... Kill them, kill them all. The last game I played against my regular nid opponent I knew full well that he was going to go with HT+TG (because they get their cover save, retinue rules eh?)x2 and no other synapse (WH's got too many toys that make them suffer!), my answer? 3 exorcists with disciplined firing untill they'd done for them good and proper and the result was his first ever game where he was playing without synapse. That said the things that cause the most problems are very hard to ID anyway because of their toughness. So the key is pick the big stuff off first regardless of synapse then move to the smaller stuff. Zoanthropes are Heavies. Hive Tyrants, Broodlords, and sometimes Warriors are HQ. And there's the thing about 'thropes. Even with the invuln save (wich isn't great, or overdonw, like the new storm shields), zoanthropes are rather fragile. The term 'glass cannon' comes to mind. maniclurker
Aw, sounds like another person crying about the new dex... Reguardless, Ezekial is right, zoanthropes are ridiculously easy to kill. Just shoot some lascannons at it. Seahawk
Not if they get 4+ cover saves for skulking behind the main body of the army. Which they always do. Assaulting it works the best now. northoceanbeach
I'm disappointed that the two units that I always thought force weapons were designed to kil, namely, greater daemons and tyranid creatures, are both immune to it.
