Haegr the Mountain

ok so does anyone have any idea on how to build a model for this mighty warrior. i was thinking about making the only true scale model in my 4000+ space wolf army. but beyond that i have no idea beyond that.

i guess to start with the legs and add probably about ... that much height to him. now his enormous girth and torso would be a problem. i think terminator chest would do.... however they have that back hunch and im sure haegr doesnt... anyone have an idea of how to give him a giant chest piece?

Well, since i am haegr ^_^ (and ive read the novels right thro from the first wolf novel released to the latest Wolfs Honour) i would reccomend Haegr having a termi chest (since his ENOURMOUS bulk fits in and out of power/termi armour alike) would probably be the best fit for him, and green stuff him up a bit.

You MUST have his mighty thunder hammer (coming to think of it now, i made a Haegr model (but in power armour) and was my 2nd time using green stuff, he turned out alright, so did the thunder hammer :P )

With his facial features you must have the Mighty Haegrs' whiskers! A good thing to add to this aswell is to make the wolfblade retinue (Ragnar, Torin, Haegr and Valkoth).

Good luck pup ^_^

I'd us a termie as the basis. I was going to do this model after reading the book. Thing that stuck out in my mind was his gut. I was going to use a marine torso, chop it down and model it to the termie's abs. Instant beer gut. Also, a retardedly large thunder hammer is required, maybe something like this. Then the manditory accessories, beard, bucket, drumstick, etc.

Cheers

okay so staying up to the wee hours in the morning (3 am) i built the mighty haegr or bucket man.

his head is that of a dwarf with the whiskers and bear. i used the dwarf musical instruments as a meed horn.

i used termie legs and a space marine chest and that put him 2 heads above the rest of my army. he has a beer gut made from grey stuff as well as a rediculously long thunderhammer. (its not entirely done yet as im not pleased with how crooked it is. im not done as im thinking about putting a spare space wolf dreadnaught icon on his stomach. if it would fit.

heres my first full costume model and extensive use of grey stuff.

also blurry thanks to cellphone cam

I read Grey Hunter and WolfBlade while i was on holiday, and when i came back the last two were waiting for me. However i got about 2 chapters into Sons of Fenris and it diddn't quite pull me in as much as the other two did. Is this just me? I dont think Haegr has been written in Sons of Fenris in the same light as he was in Wolfblade, he hasn't said 'bloody' yet, he seems more civilised in this book. I miss the old one ;). Please tell me im wrong and the humour / jolly joking is later on in the book.
I did a Haegr model just for fun a while ago but never got around t otaking pics. Basically I used Terminator legs that I rounded out with Green Stuff, and just slapped a marine torso ontop mostly unmodified. I covered the second belt and lower half of the torso with a large GS girdle fit for an oversized son of Russ, terminator arms wielding a SW bolter and a Thunderhammer, and a big beard. Turned out quite well.
Gah, yet another marine to convert....I'm actually dreaming up a good conversion of ragnar as well. Lots of GS, Ragnar leaping off a rock to take on the Red Terror. If/when I ever get this finished up I'll get some pics loaded up. SW are just too damn fun to convert up!
I'd use a terminator chestpiece with a normal marine back, and add some height to his legs with some plasticard. You're going to need a LOT of GS for the rest of him, as Haegr's got a gut that puts a Plague Marine to shame (picture the biggest football fan you've ever seen on ESPN. You know, the one without his shirt on and feeling no cold, even in Green Bay or New York. That's Haegr.)

I actually did a version of Haegr a while back, with barrel, hammer, helmet, drinking horn, beer-back-up and everything :D

I actually sculpted his fat beardy face from scratch too! My first face-sculpt, and although I've done better since then, I'm kinda happy with how his fat and jolly face turned out ;) Look at that fat nose xD Man, was that a pain :P

Camer's crap but I hope you get the idea.
