Hi all, here is member 2 of my terminator squad, bit of an experiment really, and has been a real learning process.

Just finished flames/shield (for now) and some free hand of a face in fire on the shoulder (struggling to get photo becasue of hammer position) I got 'a' photo but just cannot get a decent one sorry!

Thats where I'm at so far!!

All comments, just like last time, really, really do help!!

youve got a really nice green going there. Personally i feel it should be a touch darker but then again i like the darker look on my marines. I think its certainly a good colour for Sallys and im really looking forward to seeing it finished.

One thing i'd suggest is reversing the colours for the sally skin on him. try black with bright scales as i think it may be a touch too garish the other way around

Cheers :> and thanks, its taken a while to build up that green over a white base

Hmmmm thats an interesting idea for the 'skin' and I think your right, it would clash too much. I may, then change the colour of the tabbard from black to... another colour :P

thanks!

ah well, its very well for me to 'say' it, as in theory it makes sense in my minds eye.

Lately, I've been writing down my ideas, painting methods, odd tips and tricks in a small book, and I really find it helps. I pop in colour charts, sketches and dabs of colour nex to eachother, to see if everything works. I find this really helps me focus  (except of course on the real 'work' I should be doing!! :P).

You probably know this already, but I picked up some Klear floor polish a while back on a reccomendation, and have just started to use it on models. I've been adding it to washes, glazes etc, along with water, and its allowed me to apply even thinner coats of paint, and work many more layers into glazes etc. I'm not the best painter, but its made my life a lot easier!!

My only thought is why no basecoating? Have you experimented with the new washes? If you used the thraka green over a white basecoat a few times to get a dark color in the recesses, you should be able to drybrush/overbrush the scales up to a right scorpion green without a problem.

Hi there :> not sure what you mean by no base coating...?

To clarify: the first pic is just the start of the mini, I then applied a clean coat of white to the areas I wanted green. then a few thinned coats of snot green, then a glaxe to smooth it out. then a few highlights of scorpian green and snot, scorpian green, scorpian + white, and more white, and then a couple more glazes with snot, snot thrakka, snot more thrakka :>

Do you mean why no base coating with say, a dark green? I'm trying to get a very bright effect, which will still show through, after being weathered and battle damaged :>

thanks though!!

Lookin' Good! I personally think this shade of green is better for sallies just so the can be differentiated from dark angles. for some reason the second piccy made me think teenage mutant ninja turtles.

YAY! I've been trying to think of a name for him, Leonardo it is... or Master Splinter (I know he was the rat, but he is meant to be passing on his skills...).

HMMmmm yes! thank you!!

And thanks, that was my reasoning too. I've painted dark angels, and for want of a better term, they are dark :) So your wuite right, I wanted him to have an entirely different green.
