GI Joker
They are really coming along. Looking at these guys is making me lose my life-long hate-on for blue armored marines. Really top notch painting and converting top to bottom. Maybe I should do a successor chapter... The Iron Blood Marines... or Crimson Salamander Guard.... hmmm... That first one sounds like a group of warriors with a medical condition. Donkey Kong
Wonderful work. Everything has a nice feel to it and the Armorcast flashes do nothing but add. Kantor is even better than your Crimson Ulrawings, if you're doing more Crimson Fists, I can't wait to see. BulldogUK
Shortsonfire, yes the Chronus models are both metal and come in the same blister. You will need a spare cupola to mount him in!  I really like the new range of figures, looking forward to seeing the banana terminator and the shadow lightning claw dude with the monkey face  Stay tuned, the High explosive hamsters are coming tomorrow when I get some pictures. Enemies of the Emperor quake in your boots for the Terminator RDS (Rodent Delivery System) will soon be upon you!!!!  hehe GIJoker, I think there are infinite possibilities! Thunder_god
Bulldog, Â did you use Tamiya XF-17 Sea Blue, or another shade of Tamiya paints on your models? It looks lighter in the pictures than XF-17 looks in the jar. BulldogUK
Hi Thunder, didnt you get my PM?  Colours used in the airbrush stage are X-3 Royal blue, X-4 Blue, XF-18 Flat Blue and XF-18 Medium Blue, in that order building from a black base up to the Medium blue. Sounds like a lot of blues I know but Your talking a matter of minutes to colour up a unit of 10 marines. Then its onto the hairy brush stage, generally blend the edges of marine armour with GW shadow grey, thats all there is to the blue. I tend not to bother with the final brush stage on the vehicles, just go a little heavier on the medium blue  I only havea few more units until the Crimsons are done, namely 15 sternguard, 5 vangaurd, 5 terminators, Marneus and his buddies, another speeder, another 10 wounds, erm, I mean marines for my Dev squads, a drop pod and a Landraider terminus (think thats the one, lots of lascannons!) Soon as they are done I will cobble together a basic tutorial for my speed painting system. Captain Kael
Those minis look amazing. Some of the best I have ever seen? Â Thought of entering them in contests? Games Day? Â Anyways I loove the mace on that one model. How did you do it? Was it greenstuff or a previous model? I have all of those colors down on my modeling desk, and an Iwata airbrush ready for the work.  I knew the colors looked familiar, because I use a mix of XF-24 & XF-8 on my WW2 US Navy aircraft on the topside color.  Airbrushing does create a nice, smooth finish, even on these minis.  I'll be looking for the tutorial on the blue.  Thank you for the reply yet again.  William Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146242-crimson-ultrawings-a-chapter-is-born/page/3/#findComment-1751209 Share on other sites
BulldogUK
Some more heavy armour to back up the lads, this time a Crusader, turned round for 1 minute and Chronus had jumped in the commanders seat and was ordering the crew around! Left this one free of stowage for a change. Besides every time I tried to load it up Chronus just kept giving me lip, something about 'keeping a tidy ship' cantankerous old git! Â Oh, the Dreaded Terminator RDS (Rodent delivery system) Tungsten helmeted high explosive hamsters, when you absolutely and positively have to kill every last mofo in the room ^_^ Â http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/LandRaiderCrusader4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/LandRaiderCrusader.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/LandRaiderCrusader5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/TerminatorRDS2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/TerminatorRDS.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146242-crimson-ultrawings-a-chapter-is-born/page/3/#findComment-1751892 Share on other sites
Be26
The paint jobs are excellent. Â The "explosions" issuing from the weapons, on the other hand, make the whole image look horribly cartoony. The Terminator, for example, has gone from looking like an imposing, intimidating walking tank to something that looks like what Wile E. Coyote would be driving if he were a Gurenn Lagann character. It makes the army look unique, but unique isn't always good. Â To end this on a better note, that Dreadnought looks phenomenally badass. Â I hear they both taste pretty much the same anyhow Shiodome, or am I being FOUL ;) Â Be26 I think your mistaking snotty with sarcasm my good man. Frankly if you ever thought terminators looked anything other than big cuddly gurning teddybears then you seriously need to get out more :D Now if you want mean looking (well as mean as a 25mm toy figure can get) then check out the exosuits for starshiptroopers, now THEY look the business! Thunder_god
Now now, let's not have one of the best in-progress threads on this forum get nuked because of off topic bickering... BulldogUK
Couple of smaller updates, Tiggy was a little jealous of Brother barry's new suit of Terminator armour so he went out and bought himself some! (the lightning effect was something I had a little play with, used some scrap aluminium mesh I had lying around from Odin, not sure if I like it yet but it does look cool against the dark background of the battlefield, and it keeps in the character of all the other effects I think. anyhow its just tacked on for now with a little bluetak 'till I decide) Â Thunderfire cannon finished too! BulldogUK
Well, haven't had the opportunity to add much recently as the light quality has been pants! Managed to squeeze a couple of additions out however.  Finally painted the last of the converted minis I pulled from ebay ages back, decided seeing as they were quite fancy they were destined for greatness in the guise of a Veteran Stern Guard Squad!  Also painted them up a drop pod to allow them to get stuck in facilitate faster wholesale slaughter  Finally the second of the speeders is done  Nearly there now, only the following to paint;  Marneus and his buddies Landraider Terminus 10 Vanguard (made up from the new figs and old vet minis) 10 more Sternguard (as above) 5 Terminators various character figs and techmarines  Anyhow, loaaaaads of pics over at the usual place Crimson Ultrawings few below  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/SpaceMarineDropPod2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/SpaceMarineDropPod4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/SpaceMarineDropPod5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/SpaceMarineDropPod.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/SpacemarineSternguardSquadOne3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/SpacemarineSternguardSquadOne2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/SpacemarineSternguardSquadOne4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/BulldogUK/SpacemarineSpeederTwo.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146242-crimson-ultrawings-a-chapter-is-born/page/3/#findComment-1768266 Share on other sites
ShinyRhino
More amazing stuff, BulldogUK. I think ym favorite of this batch are the extra melta canisters on the side of the Landspeeder.
