Hi there.

I got my hands on some models (3 Captains) from the new box set and decided to convert some in different ways.

First, the "vanilla" one.... just a quick paint job for the demo table:

Looks cool :>

But just a comment, it wasn't illegal in the old codex/rules either :)

My capain has 2 power fists.

Actually you may want to go back and read teh armoury section again... it says they may not select the same item twice... and there is no option of a pair of power fists or a pair of hammers.

Have another look at page 22 of the codex again. It says "In addition to weapons, you can pick up to XX points of wargear per model, though no model may pick the same item twice", so it is only the wargear which is limited to one per model. You acn have as many weapons as you can fit in to the one handed / two handed restrictions.

Nice model though. For the third one, you could have a go at making him in to a Librarian - the Eagle headpiece would make a great psychic hood.

I quote:

"Models with access to the Armoury may select upto two weapons of which only one can be a two-handed weapon.

In addition to weapons you can pick upto 100 points of wargear per model, though no model can pick the same item twice.

Models in Terminator armour can only select equipment marked with a t. All weapons and wargear must be represented on the model. Where two points costs are shown, the first applies to models with 2 or more Wounds, the second to models with 1 Wound."

That clearly states that you cannot take the same selection twice on the same model, which is why you have the option of taking single or a pair of lightning claws. Power fists however only come in singles.

You may also want to listen to the podcast fron GW HQ, the guy who wrote the rules stated that currently marenus calgar is the only guy who has two powerfists.

How about we discuss the models, and not debate out-of-date rules, eh? :P

I'm digging the pose! It answers my question about fitting normal torsos to the main piece, too. Did you have to modify the head at all to get it in, or does it just fit normally?

Eh? are you looking at the new codex (which is not legal until 4/10/08), the current codex, anyonw who has access can have a pair of lightning claws. its the 30 point potion just below the single claw option.

Also thunderhammer under current rules is a two handed weapon option. and there is no option for taking two until the new codex comes out.

The well converted model shown above is for the new codex rules, not the current one.

The torso is slightly filed down in an angle at the left and the right side, and i scratched some plastic from one corner of the main body... i will do a graphic for that later on.

the heads fit just fine without any mods

Hammers of Dorn perhaps??

Mmmmmh....those where introduced in the cardgame, right ? Mainly Black.... mh... not a bad idea.

Hammers of dobbin!

hey I dont see the problem, he isnt picking the same item twice, ones left handed, ones right handed ;)

Funky conversion btw, I say just go with it, its sci fi after all, if whoever your playing cant imagine one of the hammers is a bolter, etc. then he really should be sticking to the historical formats instead of appreciating cool looking toys!

Some guy pointed out that my assault marines under the new LOS rules would be soooo easy to spot as they are posed mid leap, I guess I should have stuck them all belly down on the bases!

Eh? are you looking at the new codex (which is not legal until 4/10/08),

Were in a sort of stasis period, when both books are legal. Those lucky enough to have the new one can use the new one. While the older book is still useable until 4/10/08.

Sorry this will be my last comment on the codex (not the brand new one):

Mal ---- "Models with access to the Armoury may select upto two weapons of which only one can be a two-handed weapon.

OK the important bt in this is the sentance structure, I'm not rules fiddling as there was no advantage to be gaines oother than the model being expensive and looking cool. The important bit is the comma the "though no model can pick the same item twice" refers to items of wargear, not weapons, thats why 'two weapons' is mentioned first. Thats that cleared up :>

I'm not aware of thunder hammers being two handed weapons sorry.....

But there was definately nothing to stop 2 ower fists being taken, like I said it looked cool, was expensive and gave no benefit.

As to the pod cast, I believe he was referring to the fact that he was the only GW character to be 'realeased/available' with twin power fists, not the only onw ho could take them.

-------------------

But old rules overwith, it doesn't matter now.

-------------

Anyway like I said though, cool model, I really like it, he looks like he means business!

But there was definately nothing to stop 2 ower fists being taken

What's an ower fist? something that makes you go "ow" when it hits you?

I'm not so sure of the contrast between the eagle on the shoulder and the use of the iron hands thunder hammers, one or the other I think.

I don't know I think I interpret the pod cast differently...

"Also the items refere to anything in the wargear list, as confirmed by GW Nottingham. " Lol was that on the special hot line? :) I got my answer from phoning up, and it came up way back when in store, and was resolved there too. But it doens't matter now, I was never stopped/never stopped anyone from doing it because its within the rules.

But anyway! I don't want to bog your topic down with old hat, just wanted to provide more info.

Good luck with the model.

Nurglespuss out.

No I had the chance to take a stroll through nottinghams studios when I was helping the GCN out, I spent the day BS'in with their staff there and asking these sorts of questions (I had a small tourny comming up and wanted to know my limits).

The rules team stated clearly the only weapons you can take multipul of are those who have a multipul item listing... as for teh marines that would ONLY be lightning claws.

Some special characters have unique weaponry and some honourguard units have multipuls but you cannot choose to give multipuls to any other...

Of course thats all changing in like 3 weeks!! lol

Thanks Zaku. I now have some ideas for the 5 captains I got.

Duuuuuude.....dirty cheater

Will post a pic of the second one (Space Wolves) in some Minutes...

I´m in the lucky position to own a new codex (cause i run a store) so i´m looking at the new rules... but i´m more off the builder and converter guy than the rules and tournament dude. So...what the heck ^^ It just has to look cool.

A Space Wolves Leader with a chain axe is in creation

What to do with my third guy ? Suggestions ?

So... edited my first post.... the SW will get some green stuff fur on his shoulders and a nice snow base.....

Mh...so what to do with the third guy ????

Chaos anyone ?

A librarian? Thats something I was thinking of doing... The eagle looks like a really ornate psychic hood.

As for whether or not the twin PFs/Thammers thingie is legal, that is for another thread. Please stay on target.

Soooooooo it´s update tiiiime ;)

Quick basic paintjob in GW paints and foundations with a wash of the new inks (Badab Black and Devlan Mud in Special)

That space wolf is looking well spiffy! very good indeed :> The only thing I'm a little unsure about is that shield, as its right next to his face... I would be tempted to paint it either a bit more weathered or... I don;t know..

But looking awesome!
