Moving on to the armoury: With one Thunderfire Cannon in my collection, and going to an Apocalypse Battle, I added two more TFCs! Take note of the Techmarine's Conversion Beamer. I didn't have one in my collection, so why not?

And the other TFC...

At this point I decided to go whole hog and add in a proper Master of the Forge! Thunderfire Defense Battery. Yum.

Complete with some lackeys servitors to do some heavy lifting.

Makes logical sense to move on to the machines the lords of the armoury tend to: Vindicator #3, which is my command tank for the squadron.

Since I play 4th Company it was a good idea to add to the fleet, to insure air superiority. Stormraven for some non-forgeworld air-support/assault.

I also needed some more orbital support in my collection. Therefore 3 new drop pods for my dreadnoughts were commissioned.

Now to finish up I added to the Librarius, with a TDA Librarian. I plan to add a scaled cloak to him in the future as his storm shield. Just need to get my hands on one. If you don't recognize the model it's an OOP Terminator Techmarine from 1988! So cool.

And as an aside to my Salamanders, and strictly for Apocalypse games, a shadowy Vindicare Assassin. I intend to eventually get both sculpts of this model, and hopefully an Eversor too.

Wow! I like the way you so casually say "I needed this, so I bought this...." 

I really like the green, Salamanders have always been a striking force on the table... Kind of reminded me of Lego though... Not sure why.

 

My only criticism would be the MotF's axe... Is it supposed to look like its on fire? If so, is there anyway you could try and blend some of those colours? They look very stark and blocky..

Not so much of "I need this, so i buy it" but more of "I planned ahead and got what I wanted cheap." For example, I bought the Stormtalon many months ago, but never even got it out of the box until about April. Foresight is a huge help when collecting .

As for the MotF's axe, yes it is supposed to look molten/flaming/hot. From up very close, like the pics, it may look a bit stark but from say a foot away it looks great. I may eventually go back over such things and make improvements, but as it is now I really need to push forward with new projects. I'm a huge perfectionist who really needs to move from project to project, otherwise I'd still be on my first Assault on Black Reach box! Seriously...

If you check out Miniwargaming's site there will almost certainly be a video out soon that will have some good closeups of my army. Although I do hope to get some good pics of it all on a nice game board. I'll have to ask my photography friend.

Glad you like it. I try to have all power weapons in the army to have the molten look since it really unifies the look of the army. Plus it tends to draw a lot of attention to the combat units, which spares my tactical squads who win me games

Thanks Piper. Salamanders in the new 6th ed codex? I'm reserving full judgement until I have it in my hands, but so far things look encouraging. It may open up some more options, like including more Techmarines in my armies for example.
