Transporting defilers?

How do you transport defilers? there pretty big. And not that easy to cut enough holes through layers in army cases, they needs lots of space...

You could put them in a seperate box, filled with tissue paper, or bubble wrap, or coton wool or something, but thats arkward to carry...

Actually, magnetizing the legs alone isn't good enough if you want it stable.

The best stability/versatility option is to magnetize AND pin the legs, have one right beside/underneath the other.

Also, magnet/pinning the torso onto the body is a good idea, since they're all bulky pieces.

Check out KJ Magnetics here!

They're the best thing to happen to the hobby since the pin vice!

D101's are tiny. They're good for heads 'n such.

D201's and D301's are good for marine sized objects (arms, legs-to-torso, etc.)

D401's are good for slightly larger objects (Flat surfaces, such as Dreadnought arms).

However, for Defiler legs, I'd go for D301's.

Remember to keep these bad boys as far away from your computer as possible!

Cheers,

Lawrence.

There was a thread in the general forum about this a couple months ago, but I'll show ya how I do it.

I magnetize, using various sizes from www.gaussboys.com.

First, I stuck one in the base support for the upper body. You might be able to make it out here. It was easy to do; just open up the middle before you glue it together.

Then I stuck a bigger one to the baseplate of the upper body. It's a little bigger than the base one. You can also see here how I put some small round and plate magnets in the arm slots.

The large weapon bases have four small magnets to hold it on. The small ones have only two, on top and bottom. For both, they can rotate up and down on the magnetic plates.

I took an extra razorback sprue, drilled out the weapon support, and stuck some round magnets in there and on the guns. That way I can swap for every ranged option in the book.

So here it is all customizable (before I finished it)

And here's how the whole thing fits into a 2.5" tray from Sabol.

Lord... all those magnets look complicated...

I've found that my defiler fits in a standard GW tank case; as long as you can seperate the "torso"/turret and the lower body/legs into two pieces (Most people can do so easily as they want the torso to be able to rotate). I STILL have room for two full terminator squads in the case, too...

It's actually not bad at all, and all of the magnets used cost about $1 or so for them all. Besides, it's definitely worth it to be able to use any weapon on a whim. Mixes things up for opponents too.
