Blindhammer
In the 4th ed. codex it was possible to add a chaplain and/or librarian to the command squad of another character and it would count as a single HQ choice. Looking through the new dex you can just have a command squad for each captain and no mention of other (referred to as secondary) characters tagging along. Is this right or did I miss something? WarpSpawn
No, you did not miss anything. 1 Master = 1 Honour Guard unit allowed (Calgar excepted) 1 Captain = 1 Command Squad allowed. They do not form a retinue and you can attach any IC, or none, to them as you see fit but there are none of the other options that used to be allowed in terms of multi character command squads. King Tiger
about time that fixed that, absolutely pathetic rule, which I still think was wrong and the only reason it got in was the writer was high Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146772-attached-characters/#findComment-1702589 Share on other sites

WarpSpawn
Nope. Never said that. The OP is refering to 4th edition stuff (that I am admittedly not all that familiar with) regarding multi character units still being a single HQ choice. In the new book, you get no such options. Does not detract from the ability to have multiple ICs join the unit though. Kalrik
Nope as per the new rules you can join multiple IC's to the same unit, or even join them together to form their own unit. pretty cool stuff really, lets em' carpool in the raider ++ Edit ++ WarpSpawn beat me lol -- damn my love of tabbed browsing. Blindhammer
I do prefer the new honour and command squads and their weapon options, but now you can't have captain, librarian and chaplain in the same detachment. Oh well. Oh, and no more terminator command squads either... <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146772-attached-characters/#findComment-1702978 Share on other sites

WarpSpawn
I would have liked it if they could at least see their way to allowing a normal termie squad a company standard though, so you could at least make believe they are a command squad, but still use the force slot. A first company captain can now only have a power armour command squad, which sucks a little if you like your fluffy forces.
