flintlocklaser
That's the old targeter arm unit for a Cyclone launcher. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146773-what-weapon-is-this/#findComment-1702416 Share on other sites
Leif Weregeld
The Targeting arm for the old cyclone launcher, in the old rules you lost the power fist when you added the launcher. Vash113
Yup, the Cyclone launcher used to replace the power fist, makes the armaments for the old metal termies out of date if you try to use them. Can be problematic. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146773-what-weapon-is-this/#findComment-1702420 Share on other sites

WolfLordLars
Since they are now allowing us to replace the targeter for our cyclone launchers (in 4th, we couldnt). Guess some of my terminators are taking a dip in some SuperClean. kanaellars
Personally, all of my old wolves still have thier targetters, but I just count them as still having thier power fist. Won't work in tournaments, but it works in local games, and it adds a bit of character to the older guys. mad727
Thanks Everyone. Mystery solved for me. I picked up a pack of Lighting Claws, left and right arms, that will work just fine. Lord Ragnarok
Right, Cyclones being on the shoulder free up your hands for twin LC's, or combi weapon and power weapon..... mmmm delicious if not expensive. WolfLordLars
Oh man... did not know that. I know the marines could do it, but last I had heard we were still stuck with only a stormbolter. Where did they fix this at in print, because I am going to end up getting called on it. kanaellars
Its debateable. I don't think that I have ever seen anything 'official' that did say we can, but it is generally accepted that now that everyone else can, we can as well. I know that it is permitted in most store and regional tournaments... not sure about higher up. It could also have to do with our codex being older than most of the tournament judges, and as such they don't realise we can't do it. Nightrunner
Sadly, you can't do this as in our codex, the Cyclone still counts as a two-handed weapon - it is even mentioned in the latest FAQ for us, P2. Lame! NR :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146773-what-weapon-is-this/#findComment-1704574 Share on other sites

Lame! NR  Yea, that would seem to imply that the Cyclone takes up an 'arm' slot, as a heavy weapon. It says you can add a single handed weapon along with it. Thats how I thought it worked. Part of why I never bother with them. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146773-what-weapon-is-this/#findComment-1704650 Share on other sites
Nightrunner
yeah, although that does leave a handy spot for a frost blade with the new, improved version. I've been road-testing the cyclone with my GT army, but I'm thinking I might swing back to the AC - it just seems to appeal more to me as a 'Wolf' weapon. NR :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146773-what-weapon-is-this/#findComment-1704806 Share on other sites

mad727
hmmm... not that the Army Builder is the ultimate authority but I relie on it. It does allow you to take it with most other weapons when you use termi armor.. would they know something we don't? Love the heavy flamer now. Just built my first termi wold guard with it. heavy flamer with a LC. Nice 1 to punch pre-assualt and assualt. also love those AC's, have 2 models with them... all very expensive though... kanaellars
As I stated before, even most Games Workshop Employees see the Cyclone taking up an arm slot in our codex as an 'oversight'. Like I also said, it is permitted to take in the new way (taking up no slots) in a vast majority of store competitions, I double checked this with the Yorkshire Area Manager yesterday and he said he would see "no problem at all" with me using a Cyclone and 2 Lightning Claws. It really comes down to how you are playing. Friendly games and Store games, use the 'house rule', but if you are planning to go to the Grand Tourneys... then no, you can't do it. WolfLordLars
If new marines dont, then I guess we dont either? I dont know personally. I am stripping my terminators, and since I dont use them in tournaments anyway, might as well make them my LC troops. Grey Mage
Well as I recall were to look at Codex:SM for Terminator armor, and all the weapons involved. If the Launcher doesnt require a hand in the SM codex then it wouldnt in the Wolf codex either, right? No we don't use their weaponry they can use, we use the weaponry we can use, then refer to what that weaponry does in C:SM... Hope that made sense. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146773-what-weapon-is-this/#findComment-1705407 Share on other sites
Nightrunner
Well, if it wasn't specifically mentioned in the FAQ, I would agree. Sadly, it is, so it isn't even as if it is unclear; we just can't, until GW either wises up and changes the FAQ, or we get a new codex. Believe me, if I could take 2 weapons, I would. For those who are using the rules as they should be, I have one question - a LC is nice, but why oh why would you take a pair when for the same cost you can have a Frost Blade and Storm Shield. WGBL with SS, FB, CML, TDA, WP; 138pts Nice. NR :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146773-what-weapon-is-this/#findComment-1705897 Share on other sites
