mineeze
ok, so i have seen htis al over but there has been no way for me to finalize this issue. in dawn of war with relation to transports taken as dedicated transports, not just taken alone, (though why would you take a lone rhino?) how within rules, for proof, does the transport take a troop slot of the two in dawn of war. such as me, a BT player purchasing a LRC for my Crusader Squad, or even just a Rhino for them. why does the two together count as both troop units that are the maximum deployable, and if that is not the case why not, this has been bugging me for a while, i would like some good solid clarification one way or the other. thanks. Toogeloo
Because the Dawn of War deployment is based on Units, not Choices. A transport is still a separate unit, same as it is a separate Kill Point. Bear in mind though, you only have to deploy up to 1 HQ unit and 2 Troop Units. No where does it say you have to. mineeze
ok so i finally figured it out, the answer is in the caption under the picture. though i would like some clarification on how a dedicated transport is a separate unit, this is still perplexing to me. ok, so in relation to my original question i have an answer it is on page 87 of the main rule-book, under dedicated transports, page 88 in the black reach book i believe. Praeger
Its a seperate unit so that it does not need to be within coherency distance of the parent unit. It can be deployed elsewhere, move seperatly, fire at other targets etc If it was considered a model of the parent unit then it would need to stay within 2", fire at the same unit deploy with them at the same spot etc Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/146788-dawn-of-war-and-transports/#findComment-1703600 Share on other sites

It says in one of the sections of the starting a game thing. Either in mission or deployment stuff. It says that if any choices give you more than one unit, each unit counts as a separate choice for deployment purposes.
