Getting hairy

Hello everyone,

I found out an easy way to make beards and mustaches on our SW heads. When I was creating my Blood Claw bikes I intended to give them more character with beards and mustaches. While strugling in the past to make them look good I found out a very easy way my accident. In the past I first sculped a beard, and later I rolled a tiny thin roll of Green Stuff, cut it to a nice length to try and force it under the nose of the miniature. It looked not very natural, but was the only way I came up with. But these days I found out a better way!

You take a little ball (Go easy as you have more Greens Stuff on the mini then you think at first :D ) of Green Stuff and put it on the chin of the mini. Then you force it in a way around the mouth and upwards to the nose. While sculpting the beard you can sculpt a very nice mustache under the nose, without making it stand out that much so the nose and mouth are completely gone. You can carve lines in the beard to make it more hairy.

I hope it's a bit clear how I described it all, as I don't have any pictures of the process, but I thought it would be usefull for all Space Wolves around here  .

Some pictures of how it looks on my finished models:

Oddly enough that is exactly what I did when I first sculpted bears on my Wolf Guard Terminators.

Its simple and effective and a lot better than trying to get a thin roll onto the upper lip and keeping it there for detailing.

My Wolves are shaven clean, Wolf Lord only have a bit of hair on his head. The Wolf Lord before had long mullet/dragon tails, long sideburns and fringe, got in the way many times resulting in the his death. My new Lord took this example and shave most of his hair off.

Nothings wrong with not being hairy.

Nothing wrong with being hairy, either. Nice technique, and super-sweet looking models, roon. Next time you do one up like that, make some in-progress pics, you'd have the basis of a great Librarium 'how-to' article!

Wow thanks for all the kind words guys! Im happy with how they turned out, and it's great to see you also can appriciate them.

@flintlocklaser: I'll keep that in mind. Since I have the idea of making 2 more bikers, I can make another one that has hair on his face, while making pictures in the process. Now only decide to give that head to the normal biker, or to the meltagun one
