Lighting Marines
Nice Painting. I really like the mud and the bike jumping off the ground Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147375-templar-champion/#findComment-1709241 Share on other sites
HelbrechtBT
I realy like it! Good use of mud on the bike and marine. Also like the pose. It looks like he is gunning it full throtal to slay the eanamies of the Emperor. TOp notch! docbp87
The mud might be a little overdone, IMO. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147375-templar-champion/#findComment-1709286 Share on other sites
Americanzero
that was the point though. the champion is supposed to (realistically) get the most combat action against the biggest baddies...so he should be muddy! elijahdprophet
I love the gritty look. I like marines that look like they fight. Parade uniforms are for parades. Capt. Dracion
I love the mud but I find that the black dominates the model too much. Makes it a bit dull IMO. Great painting though. docbp87
I think the problem stems from the fact that the model doesn't appear to have been painted fully before the application of the mud splatter, which would have made it look 100x better, IMO. If it had been painted normally, highlighted appropriately, and then given the mud treatment AFTERWARDS. That would keep the mud from seeming like it is meant to replace an actual paintjob (no offense to OP, but that's the first thing that came to mind when I saw it.) Americanzero
to be perfectly honest, i didnt put much paint time into it. i knew that the mud would cover most of the fig, so i wasnt as worried about smaller details. and from tabletop distance, you cant really see any fine detail, as the mud is so covering. I agree 100% also I think that if you globbed alot of mud onto some areas and also made tire tracks in the mud behind it that would be great :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147375-templar-champion/#findComment-1711530 Share on other sites
