I don't think that's how it works. So much for the fluff.

You can't "turn" a Dark Angel. They are so stubborn it's not funny.

You know the scene in the Flight of Eisenstien, where the Death Guard walk towards bunker? That's why Dark Angels do!

You're better off just have a "hidden identity" Fallen Lord grabbing some regular Chaos Marines to create an Empire or something. It's better fluff. And doesn't break the foundation of Dark Angel fluff.

I'm not sure about these as blanket statements.

While "The Fallen" (Capital "T". Capital "F") is the term used to refer mainly to those Dark Angels who were turned by Luthor, there are several stories involving Dark Angels who have turned their back on the Imperium at a later date (I believe that a short story in "Into the Maelstrom" and the novel "Dead Sky Black Sun" if memory serves - which it often doesn't - both mention Dark Angels that have turned from the light. Heck the original fluff behind the Huron Blackheart's Red Corsairs was that it was made of Marines who had turned from the Emperor. And who better to do it than one of the Original Fallen?

If you're going to do it though, I'd use different coloured armour to differentiate between The Fallen, and marines who happen to get sick of the early morning wake up call. I might also add to your fluff something about the new ones being seen as less than the orignal fallen, and getting all the lousy jobs to do (Similar to the Iron Warriors novel).

There is plenty of stuff on this board about The Fallen, both as members of the Original Legion, and regarding those who fell later - searchy is your friend.

We all know Graham McNeil novels about Ventris hold no water in the universe of fluff.

Even the Ultramarines agree with this.

Sure, there are few Dark Angels who left, sick of something or other, but most likely that would be hunted down with a passion. They fall into the Renegade category.

The Fallen are the Pre-Heresy Dark Angels who sided with Luthor. They aren't recruiting. They are a dwindling number, and Cypher actively gathers Fallen to betray. Ironic ain't it? Better them then him. :)

:)

However, the point remains that it is within the realms of possibility that a charismatic Fallen (the original Fallen) could turn existing Dark Angels renegade, which is the premise of Fallen Angel's Army.

Out of interest Leethal, I've seen you mention this

... Cypher actively gathers Fallen to betray.

before. Where's it from, cos it's a bit of fluff I've never read. (there's a lot of fluff out there, and I'm always looking for DA stuff, so I was wondering what I missed)

Cheers
