Ravenor Movie

I was looking at my shelf o warhammer fluffiness (novels upon novels) and I thought...hey, why hasn't anyone made warhammer 40k movie? I think they'd do well to start with the Ravenor Trilogy. It could start out w/ Ravenor doing his cool lil' city sweep thing (have camera panning over city and zooming randomly) all the while having him narrate how the universe is. It pretty much intros ppl to the warhammer 40k universe. If it does well, they could even go and do an Eisenstein Prequel trilogy, and who knows, on to the HH!!!!! MWUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

"IF" I am not wrong they started a 40K cgi movie a few years ago but the Final Fantasy movie that came out and bombed seemed to scare them off it, was a Battletech one cooking as well that got canned about same time.

But I have to agree any 40K movie would be about the Marines becasue thats whats they feel sells (the movie they where making as about blood angels, based on a novel.. Blood Quest?? not sure).. =I= I feel get looked at as the red headed step child for 40K :P

You can't very well have an enclosed floating chair with the voice of Tom Hanks being the star of a movie, now can you?

I didn't think about it that way. Mayb they could slap a few bumperstickers on him and call it a day :o

But can you get a full feel of the w40k universe from just the Astartes? If they did do Astartes, they would have to focus on someone high up, say Librarian or Chapter master, etc. I feel that they would need a psyker be the main character because most ppl who will watch this probably haven't the slightest clue about the universe. They'll need a slapstick intor within the first 5 min.

IF they did a 40k movie, it would totally be Gaunts Ghosts, or Eisenhorn... but not Ravenor. You can't very well have an enclosed floating chair with the voice of Tom Hanks being the star of a movie, now can you?

Worked for James Earl Jones. :huh:

Marines might be what sells on the tabletop, but the best stories have always been IG or Inquisition based.

let's be realistic

very few movie studios will fund a big budget project specifically to satisfy a relatively small market (especially given the horrid track record of any prior game based movie). the only way it would be a hit is to draw in the average joe who has no idea what WH40K is and who sees their local game store as 'that spot where the nerds hang out on the weekend'. i know it's a less than polite generalization but unfortunately it exists and it's a stigma the movie would have to overcome in order to be even remotely successful.

guys like a general action movie, though, as long as it has kick-ass fight scenes. women generally go for love stories (speaking in generalities, i know) so it would have to be inquisition, and it would just be a futuristic fighting movie on a slightly different premise than most. No different from your other sci-fi action movies. i.e. Star Wars, Blade Runner (to an extent) Escape from New York, Alien, all Alien related movies, (resembling tyranids) Fifth Element, and Star Trek. The followings for these movies have all been generally relegated to nerdiness, but that's not to say they don't have a large following.

Looked it up and they were. Exile Films was backing it. It was def. called Bloodquest, you were right on that. Here's the trailer.

<param name="movie" value="

name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src="
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344">

It oculd use better graphics and smoother actions, but it prob. won't happen. The youtube caption claimed it was a permanently frozen project.

:) sorry, didn't know you couldn't embed...

here's the url.

I have bad news to drop to you all and only one reference to show for it.

Damnatus

It is a german made movie and while not knowing german I can only guess as to its actual storyline I can tell you where to find it.

And now the petition....

Sorry guys but there may never be a 40k movie as awe inspiring as it would be.

"This isn't madness...THIS...IS...GAMES...VORKSHOP!"

ahh that's good.

It would have actually been a cool movie I guess, and I'm pretty sure the plot involved the inquisition being corrupted.

evidence:

the "T" in Damnatus has the inquisition lines.

It's called the enemy within.

within...inquisition...

ehhhh? ehhhhhh?

anyway... if a prodeuction company actually got interested, it wouldn't be half bd considering that Star Wars Episode III was almost completely CGI. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY!

The only issue I find is that some of the grittier aspects of 40k would have to kept out, otherwise we're looking at a complete gorefest, eliminating some of the hobby's target audience. CGI could work, but for live action... Chainswords? Very grizzly.

I would very much like to see it.

Also, many topics like this have come up in Amicus. I suggest, those of you who have not, to have a little search there and see what the consensus is.

I personally cannot see it happening anytime soon.

What about Commissar Cyphas Cain? The series is even an inquisitorial archive file edited and annotated by an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor. It's got everything from witty remarks to gore, and women. Scantily clad women those sell reeeeaaaaal nice..... Wait why dosn't GW just make a movie about slaanesh?
