WG Vrox
Welcome young'en, I believe if you scroll up to the top of this forume you will see a topic titled Painting/converting SW models. I am sure you will fine useful informtion. If something specific comes up that you are having problems with you know where to find us. My quick bullet points + do a darn good job cleaning your models. Do not think paint will hide any imperfections because more than likely it wont. + Prime + Paint model white with spray paint. this is tricky and takes time to make sure you don't glob it on and lose detail, better to over lightly twice than heavy once. + Ink wash + think of the models as paint by colors and fill in the areas the ink wash didn't settle in. Don't worry so mcuh about the details yet. (lots of info on how to inkwash out there) +Drybrush to highlight the details. +final highlights and detail with a detail brush. work with a practice model till you feel your ready, then do a bunch of models at one time repeating the same step on each model and moving to the next. Don't get bogged down with fixing mistakes, this usually leads to more mistakes, set it down come back to it later. Remember your never going to be completly happy with the results, your always going to find something you could have done better, thats why GW provides us with shinny new sprews. WolfLordLars
I am not the best painter, at all, but it works for me: - Clean the minis. For plastic, this means trimming. For metal, trim, but also leave in some Castrol Super Clean (its an engine degreaser) for a few hours to get the casting residue off, it will negatively affect your paint. - Prime grey - Wash dark grey - Drybrush light grey - Drybrush again with a lighter grey - Paint details (for the 'lines' in power armor, I use a VERY fine tipped black marker... some call it cheating, but I dont care) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v206/OmartheFalcon/40k/Test1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v206/OmartheFalcon/40k/BC1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v206/OmartheFalcon/40k/KrugerMotW.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147578-kinda-new/#findComment-1712073 Share on other sites
King Tiger
I paint mine the way it says in how to paint space marines from black undercoat, the main armor color 1: paint the whole model in an equal mix of Shadow grey+Chaos black 2: leaving the base color showing in the recesses apply a layer of shadow grey 3: highlight with an equal mix of shadow grey+space wolves grey for the fur 1: paint it codex grey 2: drybrush with an equal mix of Codex and fortress grey 3: light drybrush fortress grey for the yellow 1: paint the area Vomit brown (may take a few coats) 2: paint the area Golden yellow (may take a few coats) foundation paints will probably save time, as would spraying the pads separate in white, I personally do neither for the flesh (how I do it at least) 1: paint the flesh tanned flesh (now discontinued but Bestial brown will also do) 2: paint the flesh Dwarf flesh (careful not to paint it on thick) 3: paint the flesh Elf flesh mixed with dwarf 4: paint the flesh in Elf flesh 5: wash with Devlan mud for the metal on guns and chainswords 1: Boltgun metal mixed with black 2: highlight boltgun metal 3: I then like to wash with Devlan mud again I prefer darker looking metal on guns, since bright and shiny look silly for the metal on normal swords 1: Boltgun metal 2: Chainmail leaving base color showing in recesses 3: Highlight mithril silver Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147578-kinda-new/#findComment-1712165 Share on other sites
