Ullr Direfang
ok, so i have decided that it is time.... i have a bunch of wolfy models that i can use for my HQs, but my vision of my wolf lord i different. i read some stuff on WG Ranaulf, and was inspired. my fluff on him is that he is just a little smaller then Ranaulf and that he isn't quit as strong, but he is one tough wolf. well i thought i would start by converting up two models one in power armor and one in TDA. only problem for me is i am kinda new to green stuff and wouldn't really have any ideas on how to make him taller. and figuring he would have a frost blade and most likely a combie-something (TDA) or a BP. and i thought the massive wolf like cloak would be great but am not really sure on how to do up a wolf like that. i have also seen that some people have made their own wolf tooth styled necklaces and skulls, i i was wondering how something like that is done. i am not sure on the head, i saw one in the new Marauder horseman of chaos that looked cool (the one with the guy that has the Mohawk), just he is clean shaven and i am not sure if i want him beardy or not, i know GH can grow beards and he was one, but i am not sure if it would be ok to leave him shaved. anything anyone can offer to help me make this guy would be great. i would love to get him made up and on here for you guys to see. Wolf89
Well for truescale marines I suggest looking in the search function, there you'll find how to make your model look larger. ;) As for how to make the wolf teeth for the necklaces, I just rolled out GS in a thin strand, cut really small, and roll the ends to a point. It's hard to explain but I may show a picture if I'm not too lazy. :D If you're doing Ranulf (or similar) I suggest a thunder hammer... or 2... Possibly your best combo is either SS\TH (the SS shows his extreme resilience, and TH shows his great strength). Another good one is frost axe, thunder hammer. OnlyInDeath
Here's a post I had in another post on how to greenstuff up a wolf pelt The easiest way IMO would be to break out the green stuff and make yourself some pelts to drape over the models. Pelts are rather easy to green stuff up: Make a decent sized putty ball, put it on a surface with a smooth finish with lots of water on it. Use your fingers to make a rough shape of the pelt you want to make, making sure to keep it wet and peeling it off the surface at regular intervals (so it doesnt just stick to your work surface). then with your green stuff tool, start making a "fur" effect. I do this by placing the sharp end of the tool into the putty for the length of the blade to make a divit, then twisting it slightly. I then make the next mark at about 45* angle to this. Repeat about 100 times and you have a nice hairy look. hope that helps! Olmstedtr
use a wolf's head as a shoulder plate. just carbe a little hole out for the arm and your good to go. looks great. also for a frostblade just use any old weapon (prefably an axe) paint it silver and give it a decent blue wash and a little extra detail Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147761-converting-up-my-wolf-lord/#findComment-1714451 Share on other sites
WG Vrox
Just remember if you do not plan to take helm of Russ, Termie armor no longer get 5+(i) save, if you want a (i) save your going to have to take a SS. What page are you looking at for this? I'm really confused as to why you say terminator armor doesn't provide an invulnerable save anymore... -_- @Vassakov: Great looking true scale there, and I love that combi flamer. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147761-converting-up-my-wolf-lord/#findComment-1714767 Share on other sites
WG Vrox
Looking in the new SM Codex. It's not that it states the termies don't get it, it just does not say they do. But I guess the ol SMC didn't state it either. If they are still going to allow them to have the 5+ (i) save you would think it would say something about it somewhere. Wolf89
Sure enough there it be,, wow, I feel sorry for anyone trying to figure this game out by themselves. That's why there's places like this, to lighten the load. ;) You really worried me for a second, I quickly opened up the book and let out a huge sigh of relief. I was going to have a fit if they took out the 5+ inv. I would have started back up with increasing my chaos daemons instead of buying new pods for my wolves. Another thought I just had about making your lord Ullr, you could always convert him a 2-handed thunder hammer looking thing and use it as a count as relic blade. Mind you this is only viable in competitive settings if you're using the C:SM and not C:SW, or if your playing friendly games and your opponents don't mind. Ullr Direfang
cool and thanks guys, all i need to do now if find the bits i need and when he is done. some things you can bet on seeing, include: -TDA legs (easy "tall" legs) -converted up body and arms (this will be a big green stuff experience) -big ol' wolf pelt from onlyindeath (funny thing is when i saw you posted i thought about your wolf pelt post). -wolf head shoulder pad, when i heard this i thought it would be really cool. though it will probably get filled for more metal look -storm shield, for both but magnetized so i can use different weapons if i need to. -frostblade/thunderhammer/powerfist/cool Apocalypse weapon: on my guy in PA i am going to find a big hammer or ax, and get "ice kraken" teeth on it, for a frost ax or thunder hammer (this is where the magnets will come in handy for when he decides to use two thunder hammers). and the TDA guy is going to get a "ice Kraken Fang" gauntlet (normally a PF or LC) but in apocalypse it will be "the Jaws of the Kraken" a Frost Claw, like a frost blade but maybe with some other cool effects. thanks for the help and i can't wait to show them off Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147761-converting-up-my-wolf-lord/#findComment-1715359 Share on other sites
