Maligoare
For the past few weeks, I have been working at sorting out my Deathwatch, but after painting just under seventy models black, I sort of got fed up with it. It was about that point I happened upon some Truescale work by Lamenter and Doghouse, and decided that I needed to have a suitably imposing commander on the field. Progress so far is not bad, given that this is my first time working with greenstuff, so here is a taster of things to come: http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/1015/cmbackpackfe5.th.jpghttp://img48.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif Next update soon... Maligoare
Ok, update time. This is as he stands now: http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/7210/cmfrontwipwm6.th.jpghttp://img211.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/3505/cmbackwiprf4.th.jpghttp://img509.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/51/padbolteriy3.th.jpghttp://img513.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif The backpack has also been GSed, but no pic yet. I still need to work on the torso and abdomen armour, but I hope to have him mostly done soon, so I can get to the detailing and painting. He will be armed with the stormbolter in the pic, and a powerfist to begin with, but they will be magnetised for added versatility. C&C welcome, as always! Cpt Ultio
Where did you get that helmet from? Looks bitching Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147793-truescale-deathwatch-chapter-master/#findComment-1715287 Share on other sites
Maligoare
I have had the helmet lying around for a while, but I think it is the Aspiring Champion head from the older CSM squad upgrade sprue, sans horns, of course. Thanks Nurglespuss, I hope to get some more work done on him tonight, but the abdomen may prove tricky. Maligoare
Firstly, sorry about the dismal lack of updates on this. I have been 'distracted' by KOTOR 2, but I have now finished that, so without further ado here is what I managed last night. http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/5153/cmfront2wiphq3.th.jpghttp://img509.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/4988/cmback2wipoi4.th.jpg So far, I have bulked up the back of the torso, and smoothed out the abdomen. Next job is the 'belt', which should bring the legs and torso together more. I have also had a go at making an Emperor's Hands pad for him, but I am not convinced (I will probably redo it at some point). http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/9425/emperorshandspaduc8.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147793-truescale-deathwatch-chapter-master/#findComment-1726368 Share on other sites
Imperialis_Dominatus
Ah yes, that helmet. I used it on my Lord minus the horns. It makes a great contrast with the other Marines. And he does look different from many leader models with his head covered. Truescale... I know one day I'm gonna convince myself that I can make truescale Marines. Then I'll fail. Hard. Such is the folly of pride. Keep up the good work. Maligoare
After yet another distraction (this time in the form of a Chaplain with far more gold than should be allowed in the Deathwatch), the sculpting work is done! http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/3868/cmfront3wr3.th.jpg http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/6373/cmback3jm4.th.jpg http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/5155/cmleftak1.th.jpg http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/592/cmrightgt3.th.jpg Once more, this time with a Heavy Weapon marine for size comparison: http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/4981/cmcomparisonyx4.th.jpg The Plasma Cannon and the marine holding it look far less shiny in real life though. I have been having fun making different pads (I can do Black Templars, Imperial Paladins, Emperor's Hands, Dark Hands, Genesis Chapter, Red Hunters, Dark Angels, and most Dark Angel successor chapters so far), but if anyone has any ideas for the Chapter of origin, please feel free to suggest them. As usual, C&C are most welcome. Enjoy! Ompfris
Wow your true scale marine is Huge!... mine is only slightly bigger then my regular marines, must of got something wrong! Good work tho! Maligoare
He did end up a little larger than I imagined. Part of it is to do with the extra height from the walking stance of the legs, but I think I also put the torso a little high. Other than that, I am pleased with how he has turned out. spectre312
wow. That guy is seriously imposing. If I saw him across the table, I'd be thinking it was some insane special character that I couldn't take with a whole army. Boomsly
after reading about a few of these being done, i was disalusioned(sp) enough that i could do one, all i have is a pile of bits atm, nothing even resembling a marine :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147793-truescale-deathwatch-chapter-master/#findComment-1739244 Share on other sites
Maligoare
If you are having problems getting started, Doghouse has a tutorial here which is good for AOBR terminators, and really helped me with my CM. As for his size, he is going to be standing in for Pedro Kantor on occasion, so it seems fitting. Boomsly
i have seen that guide, but im not sure about how to bulk out the back/shoulder area, im tryin a tactical marine torso on an AOBR legs, then ill work out the arms from there. BrotherDamascus
thanks for PMing me - its hard to keep track of so many awesome projects...and judging by the end result, yours is one of the best ive seen this year - gotta hand it to you mate, this mini oozes sheer AWESOME and WIn :) 5/5 now paint it :( <<Damascus>> Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147793-truescale-deathwatch-chapter-master/#findComment-1740120 Share on other sites
Maligoare
Thanks BrotherDamascus. Don't worry, I will paint him, but not before I get my next ten or so tactical marines up and running. Not much point in a Chapter Master if he has nothing to command! :( Wargamingbunker; I used the back half of the torso from the vehicle crew, and the front plate of a standard terminator. As you are using the AOBR terminator, you could just use its torso; the Doghouse tutorial now has some of the steps on how to do that.
